Okay, so first things first – don’t let the name fool you. The Hilltop Đại Lải H230 Villa isn’t actually some remote hillside retreat. It’s smack in the middle of Vinhome Royal City, which honestly works out way better than you’d think. I mean, when you’re staying right on Nguyen Trai Street in Thanh Xuan, you’re basically in the sweet spot where modern Hanoi living happens without all the Old Quarter chaos.

The thing about this place is it really nails that villa vibe even though you’re surrounded by high-rises. When I walked into the lobby, there’s this sort of residential elegance that feels more like visiting a well-off friend than checking into a typical hotel. The 4-star rating seems about right – it’s polished without being stuffy, you know? And that 8.2 rating makes sense because while everything works well and looks good, it’s not trying to be the Ritz or anything. The rooms actually feel spacious (which, if you’ve stayed in central Hanoi before, you’ll appreciate), and they’ve got this modern Vietnamese aesthetic going on that doesn’t feel forced.

What I really liked was how quiet it stays despite being on a major street. The Royal City complex kind of creates its own little ecosystem – there’s decent security, the buildings block a lot of traffic noise, and you’ve got everything from cafes to convenience stores right there without having to venture into the madness of downtown. The staff speaks solid English, which honestly can be hit or miss even at nicer places in Hanoi, and check-in was smooth. No weird deposit drama or confusing key card situations. You know what’s also nice? The parking situation is actually sorted out, which anyone who’s tried to drive in Hanoi will tell you is no small thing. The whole Vinhome setup means you’re not circling blocks looking for a spot or negotiating with parking attendants every time you come back.

I’d say this works especially well if you’re in Hanoi for business or if you want to experience the city but prefer staying somewhere that feels more… residential, I guess? You’re still close enough to get to the lake or the Old Quarter in about 20 minutes, but you come home to something that feels less touristy. The Thuong Dinh area has some really good local food spots too – there’s this pho place about a 5-minute walk away that absolutely no guidebook mentions but serves some of the best I’ve had in the city. Overall, it’s one of those places that just works without any big surprises, good or bad. Sometimes that’s exactly what you want.

  位于别墅风景区景色宜人, 房间宽敞舒服 有阳台大沙发 配有自行车和烧烤炉和雨伞，卫生间有两个淋浴一个室内一个室外 。 晚上听虫鸣鸟叫声入睡很舒服 床很软 。
  
  What could be improved: 卫生间偶尔会有青蛙壁虎和蜘蛛光临😂， 浴缸有点脏和被破坏的，如果配备一次性浴缸套会更好 。 房间有苍蝇不过配了电蚊拍 。 房间外的蚊虫很多 呆一会儿会被咬很多包 ，希望可以在阳台放蚊香。 进入别墅区需要支付额外的150.000vnd /人 但是感觉不值得 。
