The whole place has this boutique hotel energy that actually works. Walking in, there’s immediately this sense that somebody cared about the details here – not in an over-the-top way, but you can tell. The lobby’s compact but thoughtfully done, and honestly, the staff seem to genuinely know the neighborhood. When I asked about getting good phở that wasn’t tourist-priced, the front desk guy didn’t just point me to the nearest place – he actually drew a little map to this spot three blocks over where locals eat breakfast. That kind of thing matters when you’re trying to get a real feel for Hanoi. The rooms themselves are well-appointed without being fancy for fancy’s sake. Everything feels solid – good water pressure (which, let’s be real, isn’t guaranteed everywhere in the Old Quarter), decent Wi-Fi, and the beds are actually comfortable. I stayed in one of their standard rooms and it had enough space to spread out without feeling cramped, plus this nice little seating area by the window where you can watch the street life below.

What really sells me on this place is the location specifics that only become clear once you’re there. You’re close enough to walk to all the Old Quarter highlights – the weekend night market, St. Joseph’s Cathedral, all those little alleyway restaurants – but Hàng Điếu Street itself doesn’t get the motorbike traffic that makes some of the more central streets feel overwhelming. Early mornings, you’ll hear the city waking up gradually rather than all at once, which is sort of perfect for easing into Hanoi’s rhythm. Plus, there’s a solid coffee shop literally next door where locals grab their morning cà phê sữa đá, and a decent bánh mì spot about thirty seconds away. The 8.8 rating makes sense to me – it’s the kind of place that delivers on what it promises without trying to be something it’s not. If you want a four-star experience in the heart of Hanoi that feels more authentic than corporate, and you don’t need a pool or massive lobby to impress people back home, Madelise Amica hits that sweet spot. It’s comfortable, the location is genuinely great for exploring, and there’s something refreshing about staying somewhere that feels connected to the actual neighborhood rather than floating above it.

  It was a really nice hotel and very clean with a nice bathroom. The staff were very helpful and polite and always there to help.
  
  What could be improved: The room was a little small, but seems like most places in the Old Quarter are.
  
  The biggest issue we had was that we used their paid laundry service for a substantial amount of our clothes and they all shrank greatly. Many items of clothing had shrunk to the point of discomfort and one rather expensive pair of linen trousers is no longer wearable.

  Our stay at Amica hotel and travel has been amazing. The location is perfect with everything close by etc. but what really made our stay is the incredible staff in this hotel. I can’t express enough how kind and attentive they were. All the staff were so kind Win etc., and Hannah has just been fantastic. Upon arrival to the hotel my partner had some health issues and she couldn’t have done enough for us, she was so helpful in every way. I would 100% reccomend this hotel in Hanoi and will definitely stay again if we are ever back.
