Muse Hanoi Boutique Apartment Overview
You know what caught me off guard about Muse Hanoi? The location actually works way better than it looks on paper. I mean, when you see “Nguyen Dinh Chieu” on the booking site, you might think you’re stuck in some random residential area – but honestly, this little pocket of Hai Ba Trung is pretty perfect if you want to feel like you’re living in Hanoi rather than just visiting it.
The building itself is one of those narrow Vietnamese apartments that’s been converted into boutique accommodations, and they’ve done it thoughtfully. Each unit feels like someone’s well-designed home rather than a cookie-cutter hotel room. The kitchenettes are actually functional (not just for show), which is huge if you want to grab some pho ga from the street vendor downstairs and eat it properly at a real table. The woman running the front desk – I think her name was Linh – knows the neighborhood inside and out. She pointed me toward this incredible banh mi spot about two blocks away that I never would’ve found otherwise, tucked between a motorbike repair shop and someone’s living room that doubles as a coffee stand.
What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night, especially compared to the Old Quarter madness. You’ll still hear the occasional motorbike convoy around dinner time, but by 10 PM it’s surprisingly peaceful. The walk to Hoan Kiem Lake takes about 15 minutes if you don’t mind navigating the organized chaos of Hanoi traffic – though honestly, grabbing a Grab is cheap enough that I usually just did that when I was feeling lazy. The neighborhood has this lived-in feel where you’ll see families having dinner on tiny plastic stools right outside their front doors, and old men playing chess under the streetlights. It’s the kind of scene that makes you slow down and actually notice where you are, you know? The rooms themselves are clean and modern enough (good AC, reliable wifi, decent water pressure), though don’t expect luxury finishes – it’s more about smart design in a small space. The 8.2 rating feels about right; it’s solidly good without trying to be something it’s not. If you’re the type who needs a concierge and room service, this probably isn’t your spot. But if you want to stay somewhere that feels authentically Hanoi while still being comfortable and well-run, Muse gets it right.

Big bed, away from street

The room was comfy and clean. it had many facilities.
Sam from United Kingdom – 21 March 2024 (7/10)
Exactly as described, friendly staff and rooms were clean.
What could be improved: Bit of an odd shower set-up (wet room with no curtain). Even after running the water heater for 1 hour plus it still seemed to be cold.Santa from Romania – 17 September 2023 (9/10)
What could be improved: the entrance from the street in the hotel and the view from the room
Lester from New Zealand – 31 August 2023 (9/10)
We stayed at the Muse on 3 different occasions. Comfortable clean and roomy. The staff were very accommodating. We left our luggage in their care whilst we did excursions and that want a problem!
What could be improved: Key system wasn't easy to master!Shodhan from South Korea – 18 July 2023 (9/10)
The location of the room was excellent. There is supemarket by name BRG mart, at about 5 minutes walk to the apartment where one can find groceries, exotic stuff and almost anything that you need for a week's stay. At about 15 minutes walk from the apartment, there is a huge park by name Thong Nhat park and a lot of families visit the park in the weekends. Next to the park, there is an indoor circus stadium and we had the good fortune of viewing a circus show. It was excellent. The room as such was good, maintained clean (everyday, upon request) and had a kitchen (with a two-burner stove-top) and all the basic kitchen-ware. The receptionist was kind enough to book day trips for us to Ha Long Bay and Ninh Binh.
What could be improved: They had no visiting cards (with their address) for guests. When I asked the receptionist about supermarkets in the neighbourhood, she had no idea. I am surprised that they were not aware of BRG Mart which is just a 5 minutes walk away from the apartment, It took me a long time and a lot of walking to figure the location of BRG Mart. Between 7:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. and between 6:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., there are only security guards at the front desk who are not able to help us with our questions.Marisa from Germany – 8 July 2023 (9/10)
The property is new, clean, located by a park with many restaurants and shopping at walking distance. The staff is super kind. We wanted to change our room, because the first room only had a tiny window. We felt really comfortable and taken care of.
What could be improved: The room we had booked (separate bedroom and living room/kitchen) didn‘t have any window in the bathroom and bedroom. In the living room/kitchenette, there was some daylight coming in. We still had a great stay because the staff was super helpful and helped us change rooms.Elvira from Germany – 23 June 2023 (9/10)
It was a full equipped apartment very new and clean.
What could be improved: The area was nice but a bit far from the tourist sights so the tour guides didn't want to pick me up there.Monika from Germany – 13 March 2023 (9/10)
Huong and Vy from the reception are extremely helpful in every situation, always give their best. The apartments are spacious, and have all they need, very modern and seem to be brand new. Comfortable beds. Hot water. Internet 5G. Possibility to make a laundry. In general I was very happy with my stay. And the price is more than fair for this kind of apartments.
What could be improved: The apartments are very big and comfortable but some of them have no windows. If you are sensitive about this I would advice to contact the hotel and check the availability of the rooms with window.Phuong from Vietnam – 2 March 2023 (9/10)
I love the decoration and hotel staff, very nice service. I will back in coming time.
What could be improved: Nothing
