I mean, you’re literally a five-minute walk away, which is clutch because those early morning queues can be brutal. But here’s what most visitors don’t realize – staying in Ba Dinh district means you’re in this quieter, more residential part of the city. At night, when the Old Quarter is still buzzing with motorbikes and street food vendors, Ngoc Ha feels almost peaceful. You can actually hear yourself think, which is rare in Hanoi. The alley (ngõ 88) is narrow like most in the city, but it’s well-lit and feels safe walking back after dinner.

What really got me was how thoughtfully set up the studio is. The owner clearly understands what travelers actually need – there’s proper counter space in the kitchenette (not just a hot plate shoved in a corner), decent water pressure in the shower, and honestly, the bed is more comfortable than some four-star hotels I’ve tried. The building itself is newer, so you don’t get that musty smell that older Hanoi apartments sometimes have. Plus, the elevator works consistently, which might sound trivial until you’re hauling luggage up four flights of stairs in 90-degree heat. I did notice the walls are a bit thin – you might hear your neighbors coming and going – but it’s nothing earplugs can’t handle. The neighborhood has some excellent local spots too; there’s this bánh mì place about two blocks down that locals line up for every morning around 7 AM. Trust me on that one.

  Walking distance to Ba Dinh square and the room had great facilities, the staff were kind to meet us there so we could pay with cash as we don't have a Vietnamese bank account. Would definitely stay again!
