Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first turned into that narrow alley off Kim Ma Street – you know how some of these tucked-away places can be hit or miss. But NINE HOUSING A10 really surprised me. It’s one of those finds that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something the big tour groups haven’t caught onto yet.

The location is actually pretty clever once you figure it out. Sure, you’re in a quiet residential lane (which means blissfully peaceful nights, by the way), but you’re literally a three-minute walk from the main Kim Ma drag where all the good street food happens. I mean, there’s this bánh mì lady right at the corner of the alley who starts setting up around 6 AM – her pork rolls became my daily ritual. And if you need to get anywhere in the city, the Kim Ma bus stops are right there, plus it’s an easy motorbike ride to the Old Quarter without dealing with the worst of the traffic chaos.

What struck me most was how they’ve managed to feel both modern and… I don’t know, authentically Hanoian? The staff actually lives in the neighborhood – the front desk guy gave me directions to his aunt’s phở place, which ended up being incredible and totally off the tourist radar. The rooms themselves are clean and well-thought-out, with decent air conditioning (crucial during those sweltering summer months) and surprisingly good water pressure. You’ll appreciate that after a day of walking around the city. The Wi-Fi actually works too, which isn’t always a given at this price point. I did notice some street noise in the early mornings – mostly motorbikes and the occasional vendor calling out – but honestly, that’s just Hanoi being Hanoi. You adapt pretty quickly.

The whole place has this relaxed, almost family-run vibe even though it’s clearly well-managed. They helped me sort out a motorbike rental with someone reliable in the area, and when I got food poisoning from some questionable street cart (entirely my own fault), they knew exactly which pharmacy to send me to and even called ahead. That kind of local knowledge is worth its weight in gold when you’re dealing with a minor crisis in a foreign country.

  What could be improved: Phục vụ ko chuyên nghiệp vì ko có nv lễ tân. Đi tìm chỗ nghỉ liên hệ mãi mới tìm được. Đến của nhà có 1 chị trong nhà (sau mới biết là chị ý nv dọn dẹp) thì cửa kính khoá trong. Mình kéo cửa mãi ko đc mà rõ ràng c ý ngồi ghế nhìn thấy cũng kệ, mình gọi và kéo cửa thì c ý mới lững thững ra mở cửa với thái độ khó chịu. Mình nói lấy phòng thì c ý bảo ko biết, trong khi đặt phòng trc và gọi liên hệ hotline hướng dẫn vào nhận phòng.
  Cái tiếp theo là lên nhận phòng thiếu đủ thứ: máy sấy tóc, ko có máy bàn gọi lễ tân, ko có thùng rác. Hỏi chú bảo vệ thì chú bảo lấy túi bóng đựng vào( mình đi thì phải mang túu bóng ở nhà đi sao). Phải nói bọn cháu ko có túi thì chú mới lấy cho. Tiếp theo ngày thứ 2 ko có ai dọn phòng. Mình đi từ sáng đến trưa về hỏi chú bảo vệ chú bảo knao trả mới dọn( thế khăn tắm lau đi lau lại à?) phòng ko đổ rác… Lại 1 lần nữ phải tự liên hệ số hotline để bạn ý bảo bên này họ lên dọn. Thực sự chưa bao h mình thuê phòng mà cảm thấy bất tiện như vậy
