Novotel Hanoi Thai Ha Overview
Look, I’ll be honest – when you first pull up to the Novotel on Thai Ha Street, it doesn’t exactly scream “wow me” from the outside. It’s this solid, modern tower that sort of blends into Dong Da District’s mix of old and new, but once you’re inside, you realize that’s actually the point. This place knows it doesn’t need to show off because it’s got the fundamentals down cold.
The location is honestly brilliant if you know Hanoi at all. Thai Ha Street puts you right in this sweet spot where you’re close enough to the Old Quarter (maybe 10 minutes by taxi) but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the constant motorbike symphony at all hours. You’ve got the Kim Lien flower market just down the road – I mean, who doesn’t want to grab fresh flowers on their way back from dinner? And here’s something most people don’t realize: you’re actually walking distance from some of the city’s best local eats. There’s this incredible bun cha place about three blocks away that I stumbled onto because the hotel concierge (who actually seems to live in the neighborhood) pointed me in the right direction.
What really got me about this Novotel is how they’ve nailed the details without making a big deal about it. The rooms are spacious by Vietnam standards – you can actually open your suitcase without rearranging the furniture – and the beds are legitimately comfortable, not just “hotel comfortable.” The air conditioning works properly (trust me, in Hanoi’s humidity, this matters more than fancy marble), and the WiFi doesn’t cut out every time someone uses the elevator. I stayed on the 12th floor and could see clear across the city on clear days, which honestly made dealing with the occasional construction noise from the street worth it. The bathrooms have those rainfall showers that actually have decent water pressure, and room service arrives when they say it will – small things, but they add up when you’re jet-lagged and just want things to work. The breakfast spread is solid too, with a good mix of Western options and Vietnamese dishes, though I’d skip the buffet and head out to try the pho at the corner of Thai Ha and Tay Son if you’re feeling adventurous. The staff genuinely seems to care about getting things right, and they remember your name after the first day, which is rarer than you’d think at a chain hotel.

Reviews of Novotel Hanoi Thai Ha
Paul from United Kingdom – 20 May 2025 (8/10)
The room was lovely. Staff were helpful.
What could be improved: We cannot understand why more information was not provided about the availability of the restaurant. In fact the only available information suggests it is closed Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings with a food exchange later in the week. No wonder it was empty! We actually ate there on the Tuesday evening and it was fabulous. Why the opening times/dates were not openly advertised is anyone’s guess. Also the information on the room TV was poor and out of date.Mohammad from Saudi Arabia – 6 May 2025 (8/10)

Birol from Turkey – 2 October 2024 (9/10)
Everything was as good as you can expect from a high quality hotel.
What could be improved: I booked the property at a late hour (around 21.00-22.00) and my booking was not available at their system immediately, so I had to wait more than an hour to check in my room. The staff was helpful but they should solve this issue for future late bookings.Michel from Germany – 14 September 2024 (8/10)
What could be improved: I arrived early around 8 o'clock to the hotel after 11h night flight. I have been told my room is still not ready that's why they can not give me the room, then they said, if I need a room I need to make early check in and this is something I did not appreciate it.
Also when I got the room, there were lots of long hair everywhere in the room, so I had to mention that and clean it on the next day.Coloh from Botswana – 13 September 2024 (9/10)
