Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first spotted this place tucked away on Phan Huy Ích street – I mean, the name “Peaceful Corner” sounds like something you’d roll your eyes at, right? But you know what, it actually lives up to the hype. The self check-in thing had me a bit nervous (I’m terrible with technology), but it’s surprisingly smooth, and there’s something liberating about just letting yourself in without hovering around a front desk.

What really gets me about this spot is how it sits in this sweet spot between Old Quarter energy and Ba Dinh calm. You’re close enough to hear the motorbike symphony that is Hanoi street life, but far enough that you can actually sleep through the night. The building itself has that lived-in Vietnamese charm – not Instagram-perfect, but real in a way that makes you feel like you’re staying in someone’s actual home rather than a sterile hotel box. I love how the morning light filters through the windows, and honestly, the coffee situation nearby is ridiculous – there’s this little place two blocks down that does ca phe sua da that’ll ruin you for anywhere else.

The whole area feels authentically Hanoi without being touristy, if that makes sense. You’ll see locals doing their morning tai chi in the small park nearby, and the street food vendors know their regulars by name. I spent most evenings just wandering the neighborhood, discovering these tiny alleyways that somehow connect to bigger streets in ways that defy logic. The self check-in means you come and go as you please – no awkward late-night arrivals or early morning departures with sleepy desk clerks. Plus, and this might sound weird, but the place just smells right? Like incense and street food and that particular Hanoi humidity that somehow becomes comforting after a day or two. With a 9.2 rating, I figured other people were onto something good here, and they absolutely are. It’s not fancy in a Western hotel sense, but it’s got this genuine warmth that makes you want to extend your stay.

  We booked at the last minute and had low expectations, but we were pleasantly surprised! The space was clean, cozy, and had a great city view. The shower pressure was excellent, and extra hangers were in the closet. We didn’t use the kitchen much, but appreciated the fridge and microwave. Location-wise, it was unbeatable.

  What could be improved: uhhh it would’ve been great if the taps were working… but instead the “inconvenience” (their words) warranted a 50% refund on 3 nights when the water problem started on the 1st night tldr didn’t stay there a single night. total waste of money and only offered a 50% refund is ridiculous

  The apartment has a unique design and is equipped with an elevator. The host communicates via WhatsApp and provides excellent support. The apartment looks just like the photos.

  No running water after two nights– the toilet would not flush on the last night. No shower curtain. Room was grimy. They tried to charge me extra for early check-in after telling me that I could check in early for no extra fee.

  Great location. Quiet street but in active local streets near old quarter. Many cafes and restaurants close by. Walk to both lakes. Also good hot water and air conditioning. Elevator works. Lockers available for free in the downstairs hallway to keep your bags before or after your stay, which are somewhat flimsy but they locked.
  
  What could be improved: Not clear from the listing I saw that it was a room in a modest apartment building. Self entry to building which worked, though entry instructions not necessary due to outside door not able to be locked. That was OK with us because the area seemed quite safe, but probably it should work. The room was clean. Building and room a little shabby, which never hurt anyone but was not what we expected.

  Friendly and prompt communication and support, clean, good service.
  I didn't close my curtains because it was so lovely to people-watch the old town before starting my day. Both morning and evening, the view was beautiful.

  The room was clean and smelled nice. I liked the decor with old Hanoi paintings on the wall. The location was close to cafes and convenience stores so it was very convenient.

  The apartment has a washing machine and a separate drying area, which is very convenient for long trips. In addition, having an elevator also makes the transition easier. I also like the balcony area with trees, very relaxing.
