Honestly, when I first pulled up to Platinum Home 202TDH on Trần Duy Hưng, I wasn’t sure what to expect – the name sounds more like an apartment complex than a hotel, you know? But this place actually surprised me in the best way possible. It’s tucked right into one of Hanoi’s busiest districts, and I mean that Trần Duy Hưng strip is constantly humming with motorbikes and street food vendors, but somehow once you’re inside, there’s this calm that settles over everything. The lobby has this modern, almost minimalist vibe that feels refreshingly clean after navigating the organized chaos of Cau Giay’s streets outside.

What really got me was how the staff seemed to actually know the neighborhood – not just the tourist spots everyone mentions, but like, they told me about this incredible bún chả place three blocks down that I never would’ve found otherwise. The rooms themselves are well, they’re proper hotel rooms with all the stuff you’d want (good AC, which is crucial in Hanoi’s humidity), but there’s something about the layout that feels more like staying in a really nice apartment than a sterile hotel box. The windows are big enough that you get a real sense of the city outside, and if you’re on the higher floors, you can actually see some green spaces between all the construction that’s constantly happening around Cau Giay. I stayed there during the rainy season and honestly, watching the afternoon downpours from the room while sipping Vietnamese coffee was pretty perfect.

The location thing is interesting because you’re not in the Old Quarter where all the backpackers end up, but you’re also not stuck way out in some business district where nothing happens after 6 PM. Trần Duy Hưng puts you right in the middle of where actual Hanoians live and work – there’s a big shopping center maybe a ten-minute walk away, and getting to places like Hoan Kiem Lake or even out to the airport is pretty straightforward once you figure out the grab car situation. The breakfast spread was actually quite good (I mean, it’s not going to blow your mind, but the pho was legit), and the whole operation just felt… competent, I guess? Like, they know what they’re doing without making a big show of it. The 9.1 rating makes sense to me because it’s one of those places that doesn’t really have any major flaws – the wifi works, the shower pressure is solid, the bed is comfortable, and the staff doesn’t hover but they’re helpful when you need them. It’s not the kind of place you’ll post a million Instagram photos of, but it’s definitely the kind of place you’d book again without hesitation.

  It was nice to see a less touristy version of Hanoi.
  
  What could be improved: I feel it wasn't very clear that the location is quite a distance from the old quarter, more information about the area would have been helpful.
  We were instructed how to get the key and everything by WhatsApp, the only contact we had with someone is when we were asked to pay just after arriving which felt a bit abrupt to me.
  There was no fridge or kitchen facilities which was the reason I had booked here so I could cook something for myself after travelling without a kitchen for a while.

  A nice apartment provided by very nice host – I was getting late to Hanoi, because the bus got stuck in traffic jam, but the host took me to the apartment even after official checkin time. Great communication via whatsapp.
  
  What could be improved: There is a kitchen, but no kitchen tools (I have not seen any plates, glasses and so on – ok I did not need them for one night but they should be provided – maybe because the place was new).

  Host was supportive in term of helping to receive my luggage before I could arrive.
  Room was clean, good furnished, spacious for the price.
  
  What could be improved: Check out time at 10am is a bit too early in comparison with standard time is 12.
  The address provided did NOT provide it's house number 7B in alley 140 Tran Duy Hung.
  Even host didn't say this in Zalo chat which made it difficult when driver arrived at 140 and found out it's an alley, then called me, and host said he can't come.
  Otherwise, the place is good for the price.
