But walking into this place, I mean, it’s one of those pleasant surprises that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something special before everyone else catches on. The 9.5 rating suddenly made perfect sense.

What really got me was how they’ve nailed that sweet spot between having your own space and being right in the thick of things in Tay Ho. The washing machine thing in the name isn’t just random marketing speak – it’s actually a game-changer when you’re doing the Southeast Asia circuit and your clothes are, well, let’s just say they’ve seen better days. But beyond the practical stuff, there’s this whole vibe here that feels authentically Vietnamese without trying too hard. The studio setup is clever – not cramped like some places I’ve stayed, but efficiently designed so everything you need is within arm’s reach. And the “2 Dragons” part? There are these subtle dragon motifs worked into the decor that add character without being cheesy tourist bait.

The location is where this place really shines though. Tay Ho has this expat-meets-local energy that’s hard to find elsewhere in Hanoi, and being tucked away in that little alley (ngõ 603, if you’re taking notes) means you get the residential feel without the tourist crowds. You can walk to West Lake in about five minutes – perfect for those early morning jogs when the city’s still waking up and the air hasn’t gotten too thick yet. The coffee shops along Lac Long Quan are the real deal too, not the Instagram-bait places you find in the Old Quarter. Actually, there’s this bánh mì lady who sets up her cart right at the mouth of the alley around 7 AM – best breakfast you’ll have in Hanoi, and she’ll remember your order after two days. The motorbike taxi guys in the area know the address too, which sounds minor but trust me, it matters when you’re trying to get home after a night out and your Vietnamese pronunciation is… questionable. Check-in was smooth, none of that awkward standing around while they figure out your booking, and the staff actually had useful recommendations beyond the obvious tourist spots. Sure, it gets a bit lively on weekend evenings with the neighborhood life, but that’s part of the charm – you’re staying in a real place where real people live, not some sanitized hotel bubble.

  Awesome studio apartment with a washer! It was a good break from fast paced Hanoi. The wifi was great. The location was in a quiet neighborhood but close enough to get downtown quickly.

  We appreciated the big fridge and the washing mashine. The aircon functioned very well. It was really great that the clothes could dry on the rooftoop. We find the neigbourhood nice and calm without noisy tourists 🙏🏼
  
  What could be improved: Unfortunately the nights were not so calm because we could hear everything from the staircase/elevator/upstairs and every time if somebody gave the code in his door etc. The last night there was noisy work going in the street so we could not fall asleep.. The walls of the building are too thin.
  It would be great to have shower curtain or bath mat in the bathroom because the floor is very slippery after the shower, so you can fall easily.

  Perfect stay for those who want to have some calm and comfort! Very nice location, not too busy, just a few min walk from the beautiful west lake. All facilities were great! I used it as a transition accommodation to deal with my jetlag.
