Su Casa Hanoi Private House Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Su Casa Hanoi Private House, you immediately get the sense that this isn’t your typical hotel experience. Tucked into a narrow building on Phan Bội Châu street, it feels more like you’re staying at a well-connected friend’s place in the heart of the Old Quarter. The entrance is understated — you might actually walk past it if you’re not paying attention — but that’s part of its charm. This four-star property manages to feel both intimate and polished without trying too hard to impress.
Location & Neighborhood
Honestly, the location here is pretty spectacular. You’re literally steps away from Hoan Kiem Lake, which means morning walks around the water become part of your daily routine whether you planned it or not. The weekend night market is right there, and I mean right there — you can hear the buzz from your room on Friday and Saturday evenings. What I love about this spot is that you’re close enough to duck into the chaos of the Old Quarter’s narrow streets whenever you want, but Phan Bội Châu itself is wide enough that you’re not constantly dodging motorbikes. The couples who stay here seem to get it — there’s something romantic about being in the thick of Hanoi’s energy while still having a peaceful retreat to return to.
The Rooms
The rooms feel more like private apartments than hotel spaces, which makes sense given the name. Each one has its own personality — some have little balconies where you can sit with your morning coffee and watch the street come alive below. The design leans into Vietnamese touches without going overboard with the theme hotel thing. You’ll find dark wood furniture, local artwork, and bathrooms that are actually spacious by Hanoi standards. The air conditioning works well (crucial during summer months), and the beds are comfortable enough that you might find yourself taking afternoon naps, which honestly isn’t the worst thing when you’re dealing with jet lag.
Getting Around
One thing that really works in your favor here is how walkable everything becomes. The Opera House is maybe a ten-minute stroll, and you can easily walk to the Temple of Literature or even the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum if you’re feeling ambitious. The staff actually knows the neighborhood well — they’ll point you toward the good pho places that locals frequent rather than just the touristy spots. There’s something to be said for staying somewhere that the people working there genuinely seem to know and love the area around them.
Why Guests Love It
What keeps people coming back to Su Casa Hanoi Private House is that balance between being in the center of everything while still feeling like you have your own space. The service feels personal without being intrusive — they remember your name, but they’re not hovering. You get the sense that this place attracts travelers who want to experience Hanoi rather than just pass through it. The combination of that excellent location score and the intimate atmosphere means you’re getting both convenience and character, which isn’t always easy to find in a city where new hotels seem to pop up every month.
Hotels near me in Hanoi deliver quick rides to train street cafes, designer boutiques in the French Quarter, and Red River cruises.

Reviews of Su Casa Hanoi Private House
Oliver from Switzerland – 4 February 2024 (8/10)
Small micro appartment centrally located near old quarter. Pricewise can't be beat. If two people they should know each other well. Hot water, shower and heating worked well.
Nguyễn from Vietnam – 1 January 2024 (8/10)
Good location
Sabine from Spain – 15 December 2023 (7/10)
Friendly host
What could be improved: Shower and toilet were put together in an invented space next to the kitchen on the ground floor, whereas you had to climb up stairs to go and sleep. Also electric switches could get wet when showering, so that is very dangerous.
Bed was not comfortable.
No nightlight which was difficult as you had to go in the dark to your bed.
A bit of a dodgy entrance to get to the flat.Julia from France – 1 December 2023 (7/10)
The host made it very easy by arranging the transfer from the Hanoi airport with a driver, we had all the informations we needed provided.
The flat is a nice place to stay for first timers in Hanoï, it’s in a calm courtyard, closed by night so you are not directly exposed to the street and the noise. It’s a small surface but has all the essentials + small kitchen. The walls are not very soundproof but that’s ok, for travellers you can recover from jet lag, also it is very well located and there are plenty of bakeries, restaurants and marts. Hot shower, towels were changed and bed made after 2 days. Fair price for the city.Diana from United Kingdom – 16 November 2023 (9/10)
This was my first stay in Vietnam and it was perfect to recharge from the flight. The duplex was clean, and had everything I needed. The staff at the reception were really helpful and even let me borrow their sewing kit.
What could be improved: There was a water pump which was very noisy, but I asked the staff and they told me to unplug it while sleeping.
The flat is slightly outside the old quarter but it made for a nice walk every morning!Tran from Vietnam – 16 September 2023 (8/10)

Good studio apartment.
We ended up extending 2+ nights.Vivian from Indonesia – 15 June 2023 (9/10)
Very kind staff, good price
Olivia from Austria – 29 March 2023 (9/10)
The appartment is small and cozy. The kitchen, bathroom and dining area were downstairs, while a big bed was waiting upstairs. There were dishes, pans and a small cook-stove provided. We enjoyed having our own little small world in walking distance to the old quater and a lot of good restaurants. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the WIFI good 🙂
What could be improved: The bathroom is not soundproof so I would only suggest to stay here if you are really comfortable with your travel companion using it. There was a slight smell of the drains in the appartment. Additionally you have to pay a deposit when doing the check-in.Mitchell from United Kingdom – 30 December 2022 (8/10)
The lady who sorts out the check-in and out was very friendly and helpful.
I had to check in after hours check out before hours and she accommodated both times.
Lovely studio apartment.
What could be improved: Sofa could be a lot more comfortable.
Shower room could do with siliconing unpainting.
