I mean, you’re literally in the thick of Hoan Kiem – which is exactly where you want to be in Hanoi – but the lobby has this unexpectedly serene vibe that immediately makes you forget about the motorbike symphony outside.

The thing about this place is that it gets the details right in ways that actually matter. The rooms aren’t huge (honestly, what do you expect in Old Quarter-adjacent Hanoi?), but they’re thoughtfully laid out with proper blackout curtains – and trust me, you’ll appreciate that when the street vendors start their morning calls around 6 AM. The bathrooms are surprisingly well-appointed, with decent water pressure that’s frankly a small miracle in this part of the city. What I really loved was how the staff seemed to genuinely know the neighborhood. When I asked about getting to Ngoc Son Temple, the front desk guy didn’t just point me toward Hoan Kiem Lake – he told me about the quieter entrance that locals use and mentioned the best time to visit when it’s less crowded with tour groups.

The location is honestly perfect if you want to experience real Hanoi without being right in the tourist mayhem. You’re close enough to walk to all the major spots (the lake is maybe a 10-minute stroll), but far enough from the backpacker chaos of the Old Quarter that you can actually sleep at night. There’s this little café right around the corner that serves incredible bánh mì – I’m pretty sure hotel guests aren’t the only ones who know about it, but it’s not on any tourist maps either. The neighborhood has that lived-in feel where you’ll see office workers grabbing lunch alongside travelers, which is exactly the kind of authentic Hanoi experience most people are hoping for. Honestly, with a 9.1 rating, I was expecting it to be good, but it exceeded expectations in those small ways that make a difference – like having someone at the front desk who could actually help coordinate a Ha Long Bay trip without trying to upsell you, or keeping the lobby coffee station stocked with decent Vietnamese coffee throughout the day.

  It's a great location, the breakfast was good, comfy bed. I booked 3 tours from Hanoi, and I always stayed back at the Embassy Hotel..
