The Q Boutique Hotel Overview
You know what struck me first about The Q Boutique Hotel? It’s tucked into this narrow street in the Old Quarter where you can barely fit a taxi through, but somehow that makes it feel more authentic. I mean, you’re literally in the heart of Hanoi’s chaos – Nguyễn Hữu Huân is one of those streets where motorbikes weave between pedestrians and street food vendors, and the hotel just sort of emerges from all that energy like this calm, sophisticated refuge.
The building itself is honestly pretty stunning for a boutique place. They’ve got this modern Vietnamese aesthetic going on that doesn’t try too hard to be trendy – think clean lines mixed with traditional elements, but not in that forced way some hotels do. When you walk in from the street noise, there’s this immediate sense of relief. The lobby’s small but thoughtfully designed, and the staff actually remembers your name after day one, which is rare these days. I stayed here during Tet season (probably not the smartest timing if you want quiet streets), and even with all the festival madness outside, the rooms stayed surprisingly peaceful. The soundproofing is better than you’d expect from a building this old.
What really sold me on the place was the attention to small details that most travelers probably don’t even notice at first. The bathroom amenities are locally sourced, the coffee in the room is actually good Vietnamese coffee – not some generic hotel blend – and they’ve got this rooftop terrace where you can watch the organized chaos of the Old Quarter from above. It’s maybe a five-minute walk to Hoan Kiem Lake, though honestly, you’ll want to explore the immediate neighborhood first. There’s a bánh mì place literally around the corner that locals line up for, and the hotel staff will point you toward the less touristy spots if you ask. They also somehow manage to keep the place feeling intimate even when it’s fully booked – I think it’s only got about 20 rooms, which explains the personal service. The elevator is tiny (like, two people with luggage is pushing it), but that’s pretty standard for this part of Hanoi. One thing to note – if you’re sensitive to early morning sounds, the street does wake up around 6 AM with delivery trucks and vendors setting up, but that’s just Old Quarter life. Actually, I kind of loved hearing the city come alive from my window. The fact that this place maintains a 9.5 rating tells you something about how they handle the details that matter.

Beautifully decorated, comfortable hotel with a fantastic breakfast buffet including wide range of interesting Western and Asian food options served in rooftop restaurant with friendly helpful staff. Close to many food and massage options.
What could be improved: A little too close to Beer street for me! As made navigating walking around surrounding streets very chaotic with bikes and crowds. Quite a step to the Lake and other tourist attractions but easy with Grab taxi.Martak from Poland – 14 May 2025 (9/10)
Good location in Old Qarter , walking distance to all Hanoi attractions , lots of restaurants around . Clean . comfortable room , super polite and helpful staff. Really good breakfast served in the restaurant on top floor plus big terrace outside . Good bar on the evening.

We booked the hotel for 2 nights while we explored Hanoi. This hotel was in an excellent location on the edge of the Old Quarter around a 10 minute walk to the Hoan Kiem lake which is beautiful. The hotel is new, the rooms were clean and spacious and the beds were comfortable. Our favourite part of the hotel was the breakfast, which was served on 9th floor where there was an amazing selection of food and the restaurant staff were brilliant! Really added to our experience. We would definitely stay again.
What could be improved: If I am being very picky, it’s in a very busy traffic area, so it’s good to keep the air conditioning on when in the room, so you can’t hear the traffic.Sagar from India – 22 April 2025 (9/10)
Conveniently located at a walking distance to everywhere in the old quarter with enough shops / restaurants / cafes barely 100-200m away. It’s a new property so interiors are done quite nicely throughout the property. Nice rooftop breakfast lounge. Service from the staff was good.
What could be improved: There should be more veg options in the breakfast / especially in the hot section. But the breakfast experience and vibe itself was quite amazing irrespective. Room was small but maybe that's an issue with all hotels in this locality.Gaynor from United Kingdom – 21 April 2025 (10/10)
Fantastic location to explore Hanoi from with great service, rooms & facilities
Juliette from Belgium – 20 April 2025 (10/10)
Very comfortable hotel and great location. Staff was very friendly and helpful
What could be improved: The view from the rooms isn’t special, but that’s typical for the old quarter.Jessica from Australia – 18 April 2025 (10/10)
I loved the location and cleanliness of this hotel. In particular, the bathroom felt very new and comfortable. The beds are also massive! The service was also fantastic and they had a great breakfast buffet that was different each day. Special shout out to Alice who was also very kind and attentive to us. We had a weird check in time at 1am due to arriving late on the sleeper bus and the reception team were kind enough to accommodate this. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone! It is within easy walking distance of anything you need during your stay.

Very quaint little hotel in a bustling street. The staff particularly Lilly was amazing. Their attention to detail was incredibly trying always to make our stay more comfortable. The room was fine with the even upgrading us to avoid the noise below the hotel. Wonderful staff throughout with delicious breakfasts. Rooms were super clean. Laundry done quickly and efficiently. Nice and centrally located for the Old Quarter. Shops and markets were within 5 minutes walking distance
What could be improved: Was rather noisy the first night we were there but there was a market going on
