The Q Hotel Overview
You know what struck me first about The Q Hotel? It’s tucked away on this surprisingly quiet stretch of Nguyễn Trường Tộ, right in the heart of Truc Bach Ward – honestly, I wasn’t expecting much peace and quiet being so close to the Old Quarter, but this little pocket of Ba Dinh actually feels like a breath of fresh air. The building itself has this clean, modern vibe that doesn’t try too hard to be fancy, which I actually appreciate after staying in some of those overly ornate places that feel more like museums than hotels.
The location is honestly perfect if you want to feel like you’re living in Hanoi rather than just visiting it. I mean, you’re literally a five-minute walk from Truc Bach Lake – and trust me, early morning walks around that lake before the motorbike chaos starts are absolutely worth setting an alarm for. What really sold me on this spot though is how easy it is to slip into the rhythm of the neighborhood. There’s this amazing little coffee place just around the corner where locals actually hang out (not just tourists), and you can grab proper Vietnamese coffee for like 20,000 dong instead of the inflated prices near Hoan Kiem Lake. The staff at The Q actually pointed me toward it on my first morning – small thing, but it showed they get that travelers want authentic experiences, not just the obvious tourist stuff.
The rooms themselves are well… they’re exactly what you’d want from a solid 4-star place without any of the pretentious nonsense. Clean lines, comfortable beds (and I’m picky about mattresses), and honestly some of the best air conditioning I encountered during my three weeks in Vietnam – which matters more than you’d think during those humid summer months. The bathrooms are spacious enough that you’re not bumping into everything, and the water pressure is consistently good, even on the higher floors. I stayed on the sixth floor and never had issues, though I did notice the elevator can get a bit crowded during check-in times around 2 PM. One thing I really appreciated – the soundproofing is actually decent. You get the gentle hum of the city, but none of those jarring motorbike horns that can jolt you awake at 5 AM in other parts of town. The Wi-Fi works reliably throughout the building too, which isn’t always a given even in newer hotels here. Look, it’s not going to blow your mind with revolutionary design or anything, but sometimes what you want is a place that just… works well. And honestly, with an 8.7 rating from actual guests, that consistency shows. Plus, you’re paying reasonable rates to be in one of Hanoi’s most livable neighborhoods rather than being stuck in the tourist bubble – which, after a few days of exploring, you’ll definitely come to appreciate.

For starters, we arrived late and were warmly greeted by the staff, even at 11pm. The breakfast buffet was fabulous. But the real kicker? The desk staff! We had arrived early for a group tour, and Serena and Alice helped us get eSim cards for our phones, and looked through our itinerary and found activities and sights that we would otherwise have not been aware of. Even after we changed hotels to be with our group, Serena texted me that I had left my water bottle in the lobby. And we booked a motorbike tour with them. Lovely people!

A nice and clean hotel with delicious options for breakfast. The room was well soundproofed or the surrounding area and people there didn't make much noise. In any case, it helped to have a peaceful sleep. The staffs were exceptional helpful also.
