Okay, so Toda House is one of those places that completely surprised me in the best way possible. You know how sometimes you book a place in Hanoi’s Old Quarter and you’re just hoping it’s not going to be a total disaster? Well, this little gem on Tông Đản Street is actually the opposite – it’s this bright yellow building with gorgeous wooden doors that you’ll spot immediately (which is honestly a relief because finding addresses in the Old Quarter can be… well, let’s just say it’s an adventure).

The thing about this location is that it’s perfectly positioned – I mean, you’re basically in the heart of everything without being right on top of the tourist chaos. Hoan Kiem Lake is literally a five-minute walk, and you can actually hear the morning tai chi crowds if you wake up early enough, which I found oddly soothing. The street itself has this authentic feel because it’s narrow enough that you’ll hear the motorbike symphony (you know, that constant hum that’s just part of Hanoi’s soundtrack), but it’s not one of those main drags where you can’t sleep because of the honking. I actually slept pretty well most nights, which for a light sleeper like me in Vietnam’s capital, that’s saying something.

What really got me about Toda House though is how the staff just… gets it. They understand that travelers need real information, not just the standard tourist recommendations. When I asked about getting to the airport, the guy at reception didn’t just say “take a taxi” – he walked me through the different options, told me about the bus route, and even mentioned which time of day traffic would be lighter. Little things like that make such a difference when you’re trying to navigate a city. The rooms themselves are clean and comfortable – nothing fancy, but everything works properly, the AC actually cools the room down (crucial in Hanoi’s humidity), and the beds are firm enough that you won’t wake up feeling like you’ve been sleeping on a marshmallow. Plus, there’s this nice attention to detail in the way they’ve set things up – proper lighting for reading, enough outlets that you’re not playing musical chairs with your devices, that sort of thing.

Honestly, with an 8.8 rating, I went in with pretty high expectations, and it delivered. The neighborhood vibe is what really sealed it for me though – you’re close enough to walk to the night market and all the street food spots around Hoan Kiem, but you’re also on a street where actual locals live and work. There’s a little coffee shop about two doors down where the owner makes this incredible egg coffee, and I’m pretty sure I was the only tourist who found it during my stay. That’s the kind of discovery that makes a trip memorable, you know? If you’re looking for a solid base in Hanoi without the inflated prices of the bigger hotels, and you want to feel like you’re actually experiencing the city rather than just visiting it, Toda House is definitely worth booking.

  离还剑湖很近，步行可以抵达，周边有领馆、银行、咖啡店、便利店，斜对面的牛肉粉、隔壁街的甜品味道很好，提供饮用水和一次性用品，可以利用炊具做早餐，房东响应及时，虽然附近房子有古董钟计时，整体还是比较安静。
  
  What could be improved: 没有适合书写的书桌，小朋友需要坐在垫子上用矮桌子写字、打字，不太舒服。wifi信号覆盖在一楼客厅和三楼以上房间不太好。没有洗衣机和晾衣架，露台不能用来晾衣服，不太适合久住。

  The location is fantastic, most things in the French quarter were nearby. after our stay, we took the G8 sleeper bus to Sa Pa, the bus stop was conveniently only a 5 minute walk away.
  
  What could be improved: The beds were fairly uncomfortable, they were pretty hard to sleep on. The showers are in an inconvenient spot (understanding there is limited space) you couldn’t bring in your change of clothes without it getting wet in some regard.

  This is a 4 storey, 4 bedroom charming old style shop house in the Banking/Embassy/French Quarter area of Ha Noi situated next to the American Ambassadors residence and down a quiet soi.
  Contact with the owner is quick via whats app or booking.com.
  If your looking for a place that makes you feel like your living in Ha Noi this is it.
  Its a short distance to the walking streets of the old quarter and a quick grab to everything else.
  Lots of food options nearby, kitchen set up so you can do a little cooking.
  It's a big house , great for travelling friends or couples. Maybe not so great for toddlers/elderly as the stairs might be a challenge.
  Water is supplied , linen and towels.
  
  What could be improved: This is not a hotel , so you need to clean up after yourself just like at home ,this might not suit everyone but it was fine with us.

  Месторасположение, персонал, удобства, уникальная возможность остановиться большой семьёй- 4 этажа! Кухня- гостиная, 4 спальни, 3 туалета ( 2 с душем). Терраса с крышей, Центр города- французский квартал. Но тут тихое место. Очень много достопримечательностей в шаговой доступности.
  
  What could be improved: Конечно, в Ханое можно покушать на любом углу, но нам не хватало полноценного обеденного стола и стиральной машины. Но это уже наши "капризы" . хозяин идет на встречу гостям и всё это возможно, появится или в скором времени или по запросу.
  Но в целом, место хорошее и условия хорошие.
