First Impressions

You’ll spot Toda house immediately — it’s the cheerful yellow building with wooden doors on Phố Tông Đản, and honestly, that’s part of its charm. The moment I walked through those doors, I knew this four-star place had something different going on. It’s not trying to be the biggest or flashiest hotel in Hanoi, but there’s this genuine warmth that hits you right away. The staff actually remembers your name after the first day, which sounds small but makes all the difference when you’re navigating a new city.

Location & Neighborhood

Here’s the thing about Toda house — you’re literally in the beating heart of Hoan Kiem district, and I mean that in the best possible way. Step outside and you’re maybe a three-minute walk from Hoan Kiem Lake, where locals do their morning tai chi and evening strolls. The Old Quarter’s maze of streets is right there too, so you can wander into those narrow alleys filled with street food vendors and tiny shops selling everything imaginable. What I loved most was being able to walk to Dong Xuan Market for breakfast pho, then circle back through the weekend night market — all without needing a taxi or motorbike.

The Rooms

The rooms at Toda house strike that perfect balance between comfort and character that’s surprisingly hard to find. Mine had this lovely mix of Vietnamese touches and modern amenities — think traditional wooden furniture paired with excellent air conditioning and fast wifi. The bathroom was spotless (always a relief in this price range), and the bed was actually comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up with a sore back. You know what really impressed me though? The soundproofing is remarkably good considering you’re in such a bustling area of the city.

Daily Life & Service

The breakfast spread isn’t elaborate, but it covers all the bases with both Vietnamese and Western options — I particularly enjoyed their pho bo alongside decent coffee and fresh fruit. What sets this place apart is how the staff genuinely wants to help you experience Hanoi properly. They’ll draw little maps showing you the best banh mi spots, warn you about tourist traps, and even help negotiate fair prices for day trips to Ha Long Bay. I mean, you could tell they actually cared about whether you had a good time, not just whether you paid your bill on time.

Why Guests Love It

Toda house works because it gets the fundamentals right while adding those personal touches that make you feel like more than just another booking. Couples especially seem drawn to this place — and I can see why, given that romantic location score and the intimate scale of everything. You’re close enough to all the action that you can dive into Hanoi’s incredible street life whenever you want, but you also have a peaceful retreat to come back to. It’s the kind of place where you’ll find yourself chatting with other travelers in the lobby, sharing recommendations and maybe even planning to explore the city together.

  离还剑湖很近，步行可以抵达，周边有领馆、银行、咖啡店、便利店，斜对面的牛肉粉、隔壁街的甜品味道很好，提供饮用水和一次性用品，可以利用炊具做早餐，房东响应及时，虽然附近房子有古董钟计时，整体还是比较安静。
  
  What could be improved: 没有适合书写的书桌，小朋友需要坐在垫子上用矮桌子写字、打字，不太舒服。wifi信号覆盖在一楼客厅和三楼以上房间不太好。没有洗衣机和晾衣架，露台不能用来晾衣服，不太适合久住。

  Good price, toilet on each floor. Owner let us put our bags in the room before check in time.

  The location is fantastic, most things in the French quarter were nearby. after our stay, we took the G8 sleeper bus to Sa Pa, the bus stop was conveniently only a 5 minute walk away.
  
  What could be improved: The beds were fairly uncomfortable, they were pretty hard to sleep on. The showers are in an inconvenient spot (understanding there is limited space) you couldn’t bring in your change of clothes without it getting wet in some regard.

  This is a 4 storey, 4 bedroom charming old style shop house in the Banking/Embassy/French Quarter area of Ha Noi situated next to the American Ambassadors residence and down a quiet soi.
  Contact with the owner is quick via whats app or booking.com.
  If your looking for a place that makes you feel like your living in Ha Noi this is it.
  Its a short distance to the walking streets of the old quarter and a quick grab to everything else.
  Lots of food options nearby, kitchen set up so you can do a little cooking.
  It's a big house , great for travelling friends or couples. Maybe not so great for toddlers/elderly as the stairs might be a challenge.
  Water is supplied , linen and towels.
  
  What could be improved: This is not a hotel , so you need to clean up after yourself just like at home ,this might not suit everyone but it was fine with us.

  Месторасположение, персонал, удобства, уникальная возможность остановиться большой семьёй- 4 этажа! Кухня- гостиная, 4 спальни, 3 туалета ( 2 с душем). Терраса с крышей, Центр города- французский квартал. Но тут тихое место. Очень много достопримечательностей в шаговой доступности.
  
  What could be improved: Конечно, в Ханое можно покушать на любом углу, но нам не хватало полноценного обеденного стола и стиральной машины. Но это уже наши "капризы" . хозяин идет на встречу гостям и всё это возможно, появится или в скором времени или по запросу.
  Но в целом, место хорошее и условия хорошие.
