The thing about staying here is that you’re really living like a local, not just passing through. The apartments themselves are properly spacious – none of that cramped hotel room feeling where you’re bumping into furniture every time you turn around. The kitchens actually work (I made coffee every morning without wanting to throw the machine out the window), and the washing machines are a godsend if you’re staying more than a few days. What really sold me though was stepping out onto the balcony early one morning and seeing the lake stretching out below, with joggers already making their loops around the water. There’s something about that view that makes you want to slow down and actually breathe for a minute.
The location is honestly perfect if you want to experience Hanoi without being right in the thick of the Old Quarter madness. You’re close enough to grab a xe om and be downtown in twenty minutes, but far enough out that you can actually sleep at night without motorbikes honking under your window at 2 AM. The neighborhood has this mix of new developments and older Vietnamese life – there’s a fantastic bún chả place about a ten-minute walk away that I stumbled across, and the local market in the mornings is where you’ll see actual families doing their shopping, not just tourists hunting for souvenirs. Parking was surprisingly easy too, which anyone who’s driven in Hanoi will tell you is basically a miracle. The building staff – well, they’re genuinely helpful without that over-the-top service smile you get at some places. When I couldn’t figure out the air conditioning remote (everything was in Vietnamese), the maintenance guy came up and actually showed me how it worked instead of just fixing it and leaving. Small thing, but it mattered.
