20×19 Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to 20×19, you might actually miss it at first — it’s tucked into a narrow Hanoi street in a way that feels almost secretive. The entrance is understated, which honestly makes sense given how packed this part of Hoan Kiem gets with tourists. Once you step inside though, there’s this immediate shift from the chaos of Old Quarter streets to something much more refined. The lobby isn’t huge, but it’s got this clean, modern aesthetic that feels refreshingly calm after navigating Hanoi’s motorbike-filled streets.
Location & Neighborhood
You know what’s brilliant about this four-star hotel? It’s literally on Hue Street, which puts you right in the thick of things without being on one of those impossibly crowded tourist strips. I mean, you’re a five-minute walk from Hoan Kiem Lake, and all those little coffee shops and street food stalls are basically at your doorstep. The location score of 9.2 makes total sense — couples especially seem to love it here, probably because you can easily wander the romantic lakeside paths in the evening, then duck back to somewhere quiet when the Old Quarter gets overwhelming.
The Room Experience
The rooms at 20×19 are what I’d call thoughtfully designed rather than flashy. Everything feels purposeful — good lighting for actually reading, decent storage space (which matters when you’re living out of a suitcase), and windows that let in natural light without the street noise being unbearable. The bathrooms are compact but well-appointed, with rainfall showers that actually have proper water pressure. It’s not the biggest space you’ll ever stay in, but honestly, when Hanoi’s incredible street life is right outside, you’re not going to spend much time in the room anyway.
Service & Amenities
The staff here really knows their stuff about the neighborhood — they’ll give you actual useful directions instead of just pointing vaguely toward the lake. There’s something to be said for staying somewhere that feels more like a well-run boutique property than a big chain hotel. The front desk can help arrange motorbike rentals or day trips, and they seem to have good relationships with local tour operators. The hotel keeps things simple but does them well, which I actually prefer to places that try to offer everything and end up being mediocre at most of it.
Why Guests Love It
What really works about 20×19 is how it balances being right in central Hanoi without feeling like you’re trapped in a tourist bubble. You can step out and immediately be part of the real city rhythm — morning coffee with locals, evening walks around the lake, late-night pho runs. The 8.6 rating reflects what you’d expect: solid comfort, great location, and staff who actually care about your experience. For couples especially, there’s something appealing about having a peaceful base while still being able to dive into Hanoi’s incredible energy whenever you want.

I stayed at 20×19 Homestay in Hanoi for one night and had a great experience. The service was excellent, and the house owner was incredibly sweet and polite — always ready to help with a smile.
The location is perfect: close to shopping stores, grocery stores, a beautiful lake, and the vibrant Old Quarter. It’s ideal for both relaxing and exploring the city.
I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Hanoi. Great hospitality and a convenient location make it a wonderful stay!Jenny180290 from Germany – 11 February 2025 (9/10)

Very accommodating host and the area was good. The host was very responsive and we felt safe in the area.
What could be improved: Stairs can be a but scary at first.Becca from Indonesia – 14 December 2024 (8/10)
Place was very unique.. easy to find. Abt 8 mins to Old Quarter by taxi. The inside was cute but if ure travelling w big luggage u might want to consider because the stairs are very steep and not made for bringing huge suitcases. But you can certainly stay downstairs
What could be improved: The smell from the sink was quite bad. I guess the area has a sewage problem. The stairs were quite difficult to manuverMd from Bangladesh – 28 November 2024 (9/10)
Nearby attraction is Hoan kiem lake
Room was exceptionally designed, but if you have kid better to stay on the ground floor bed because 1st floor and 2nd floor staircase little bit risky. But if you are adventourous, you will like it definitely.
If you are a group of 4-5 people this place also suitable for you.
The host Kien bro was very co-operative, thanks man!

This is a very quirky property designed to maximise on space. Built on 3 levels, we had a lot of private spaces.
And the interiors have been done very tastefully.
Kitchen is equipped if you feel like cooking something basic.
It is quite centrally located and we used to walk to the hoan kiem lake and old quarter everyday.
What could be improved: The bathroom doors are a little transparent. Maybe an extra film on the doors would help.William from Australia – 24 October 2024 (9/10)
Location is great, communication was excellent
Erin from Australia – 15 October 2024 (8/10)

What could be improved: can be a little noisy with motorbikes parked just outside the lower room.Zhongying from China – 6 May 2024 (9/10)
