The rooms are what you’d hope for from a solid 4-star place – good beds, reliable AC that doesn’t sound like a freight train, and bathrooms where the shower actually has decent pressure. Nothing revolutionary, but everything works, which is honestly more than you can say for a lot of places in this price range. The wifi is solid too, which matters if you’re trying to navigate the city or keep in touch with home.

What really sold me on this place, though, is how it sits in the neighborhood. Walk five minutes toward Điện Biên Phủ and you hit some of the best street food spots that tourists never find – there’s this bánh mì place that opens at 6 AM and sells out by 10, and a coffee shop where locals actually go to read newspapers instead of taking Instagram photos. The other direction takes you straight to the botanical gardens, which is perfect for morning walks when the air is still breathable. And here’s the thing about staying in Ba Dinh versus the Old Quarter – you can actually sleep at night. No karaoke bars blasting until 2 AM, no motorbikes honking outside your window every five minutes.

The staff genuinely seems to know the area well, not just the standard tourist recommendations. When I asked about getting to the Temple of Literature without dealing with taxi drivers, the front desk guy drew me an actual map showing which alleys to cut through. That kind of local knowledge is worth its weight in gold when you’re trying to move around Hanoi efficiently. The breakfast spread is decent – nothing fancy, but they do a proper Vietnamese coffee setup alongside the international stuff, and the phở is actually edible (which is rarer than it should be in hotel restaurants).

Look, if you want marble lobbies and rooftop pools, this isn’t your place. But if you want to stay somewhere that feels connected to actual Hanoi life while still having reliable amenities and a good night’s sleep, A25 on Phan Đình Phùng hits that sweet spot.   Phòng rộng, đồ đạc mới tinh, ăn sáng ngon. Vị trí nằm ở trung tâm phố cổ. Nhân viên nhiệt tình và thân thiện, sẽ quay lại khi có dịp.

  No lo sé porque casi no pude entrar ni a recepción.
  
  What could be improved: Cuando llegue me dijeron que no aceptaban a extranjeros y pretendían mandarme a otro hotel de la cadena a dos kilómetros del centro (este estaba en el centro) y cuando me negué en rotundo me pasaron con el gerente que le decía lo mismo. Dije que no me movía de la recepción (era sin cancelación y ya estaba pagado) y después de más de dos horas, me mandaron a otro hotel de la misma cadena a 200mts. Imagino que estaba lleno y a quien colase le mandaban al hotel que tenían vacío.

  Great location. Only a 15 minute walk to Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum in one direction, and Hoan Kiem Lake in another. Staff VERY helpful and friendly.
  
  All kinds of shops and eating places surround the hotel, including pharmacies, a WinMart and a Highlands Coffee is attached to the hotel.
  
  The staff are fantastic. I know I already said this, but I need to say it again.
  
  What could be improved: The A25 hotel that I booked through booking.com told me that foreigners could not stay at the hotel, so they took my bags to this nearby A25 hotel. This was inconvenient, and booking.com should not have accepted the booking with this being the case.
  
  The hotel rooms can be booked for 2hr periods and have condoms in the drawer.
  
  Breakfast is not kept warm. On 2 occasions I just had toast and jam because it was hot.
