Ambassador Hanoi Hotel & Spa Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to the Ambassador Hanoi Hotel & Spa on Hang Dieu Street, you immediately get that feeling you’ve found something good. It’s tucked right into the Old Quarter’s maze of narrow streets, and honestly, the location couldn’t be better — I mean, you’re literally in the heart of everything that makes Hanoi special. This three-star property doesn’t try to be flashy, but there’s something genuinely welcoming about the entrance that makes you feel like you’ve made the right choice.
Perfect Old Quarter Positioning
You know what really struck me about this place? You can walk out the front door and be surrounded by street food vendors, local cafes, and those tiny shops that sell everything from silk scarves to handmade crafts. The hotel sits right in Hoan Kiem district, which means Hoan Kiem Lake is just a few minutes’ stroll away — perfect for those early morning walks when the city’s just waking up. Couples absolutely love this spot (they rate the location 9.6 out of 10), and I can see why. There’s something romantic about being able to explore the Old Quarter’s winding streets and then retreat to your quiet room when you need a break from the beautiful chaos outside.
Comfort That Actually Delivers
I’ll be honest — I was a bit skeptical about the bed situation before arriving, but this place really delivers on comfort. The beds are genuinely excellent, which is something you don’t always expect from a three-star hotel. After long days of exploring temples and navigating the motorbike-filled streets, you actually get proper rest here. The rooms aren’t huge, but they’re thoughtfully designed with everything you need, and there’s something to be said for a place that focuses on getting the basics absolutely right rather than loading up on unnecessary extras.
Food Worth Talking About
Here’s where the Ambassador really surprised me — the food is actually remarkable. The breakfast spread covers all the bases with continental, Asian, and American options, plus they do this great buffet setup that lets you try a bit of everything. But honestly, even beyond breakfast, the restaurant here serves meals that locals would be happy to eat, which says everything you need to know. They also offer breakfast to go, which is perfect when you want to catch the sunrise at Hoan Kiem Lake or get an early start on your temple visits.
Why Guests Love It
What makes this place work is how it balances authentic Hanoi character with genuine comfort — and that’s harder to find than you’d think. The spa services give you a perfect way to unwind after walking miles through the city’s historic streets, and having private parking available is honestly a godsend if you’re planning any day trips outside the city. The staff seems to understand that travelers want to experience the real Hanoi, not some sanitized version of it, so they’re great with recommendations for local spots that tourists usually miss. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re staying somewhere authentic while still getting a proper night’s sleep and a solid meal.

What could be improved: NothingViv from Malaysia – 2 June 2025 (9/10)
The hotel location was very convenient with F&B and shopping. Shower was good (after they fix the shower head). Ours was in the 4th floor w a lift. Buffet was good. Orange juice n lemon juice n hot/cold/RO water was always available at the lobby. Tea as well. Hand shoulder n leg Massage was ok, and right within the same hotel building. I would recommend this as a 3-4 star hotel.
What could be improved: Shower water wasn’t hot enough – they did say they’ve been trying to fix it for some time. It has a tiny window tightly shut n I didn’t open to see if there’s any view.Leigh from Australia – 29 May 2025 (8/10)
