La Passion Hanoi Hotel & Apartment Overview
First Impressions
Walking into La Passion Hanoi Hotel & Apartment, you immediately get that feeling of stumbling onto something special in the maze of Old Quarter streets. It’s tucked away on Ngõ Phất Lộc — one of those narrow alleys that honestly, I would have walked right past if I hadn’t been looking for it. The lobby isn’t huge or flashy, but there’s this warm, welcoming vibe that makes you feel like you’ve found your little corner of Hanoi. The staff genuinely seems happy to see you, which after a long flight, means everything.
Perfect Old Quarter Location
You know what’s brilliant about this spot? You’re literally in Hoan Kiem district, which means Hoan Kiem Lake is maybe a five-minute walk away. I mean, couples rate the location 9.6 out of 10 for good reason — you can stroll to the lake for sunrise, grab street food on practically every corner, and still duck back to your room when the Old Quarter chaos gets a bit much. The weekend night market is right there, and honestly, being able to explore until late then just slip back through those narrow alleys to your bed? That’s the dream.
The Accommodation
This three-star place punches way above its weight — I’ve stayed in pricier hotels that felt less thoughtful. The rooms are clean and comfortable, with that perfect balance of local character and modern amenities you actually need. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays despite being in the heart of everything. The air conditioning works properly (trust me, you’ll need it), and the beds are actually comfortable, not just hotel-acceptable. Some units come with kitchenette facilities, which is pretty handy if you want to store those amazing fruits from Dong Xuan Market.
Morning Fuel
Breakfast here is surprisingly solid for a smaller hotel — they do both buffet style and breakfast to go options, which shows they actually think about what travelers need. The buffet has a nice mix of Vietnamese and Western options, though honestly, with pho joints literally around the corner, you might find yourself wandering out for the real deal. But on those mornings when you just want coffee and something familiar before tackling the temples, it’s perfect. The breakfast to go option is clutch if you’re catching an early bus to Ha Long Bay.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t about fancy amenities or Instagram-worthy pools — it’s about location, value, and that rare thing where a hotel just gets it right. With a 9.1 rating, guests consistently mention feeling like they’re staying somewhere that actually cares about the experience, not just processing tourists. You’re paying for a smart base in an incredible location, with staff who know the neighborhood and can point you toward the best banh mi spot (not the touristy one everyone talks about). For exploring Hanoi properly — getting lost in the Old Quarter, discovering hidden cafes, actually experiencing the city rather than just seeing it — this place nails it.

It's right in the middle of everything, super handy for shops, restaurants, cafes, etc. It's located in a small alley that gives you that immediate feel that you're in Hanoi.
Breakfast was really good, but in a separate hotel about 50m away. But the place was nice and with actual Vietnamese food and plenty. Good coffee too.
The room looks just like in the photos with a small balcony, kitchenette and medium size fridge. We didn't use the kitchen because eating out is so much more exciting and cheap too.
You're not overlooked from other buildings!
What could be improved: There's some street noise at night but only until about midnight. However it is not loud but is something to keep in mind.
The access alley is about 10m away from the main street so a taxi won't stop right at your door step. Similarly, the hotel access is via a staircase with about 10 steps, so you need to lift your suitcases by yourself.
Breakfast is served at a different location.
We didn't use the balcony, the view is not particularly attractive.Sara from Australia – 26 May 2025 (10/10)
The location was fantastic, right in the middle of the city. Walking distance to EVERYTHING. The room was well appointed and very clean. They do get hot during the day and it takes a little while for them to cool down. But very spacious. And quiet even though you are surrounded by traffic and city lofe
What could be improved: Our booking included breakfast but there was no place to have breakfast nor was it provided in the rooms.Mackenzie from United States – 24 May 2025 (10/10)
A great stay in good accommodation in the old town.
Ayesha from Australia – 14 May 2025 (10/10)
Huge room, clean and comfortable, and in a convenient location in the old town. Was a surprise to see a mini kitchenette inside the room as well. Overall really comfortable stay.
What could be improved: Was not an issue for us as we left early morning after a one night stay, but the breakfast is served in their sister hotel 200m away – may be an issue for some people.Tobias from Germany – 11 May 2025 (10/10)
Good location, staff were friendly and accommodating, room was adequate, clean and comfortable.

Great location, surprising quiet although next to busy streets. Short walk to sister hotel for an amazing breakfast. Staff super supportive and friendly. Great to have a larger fridge and kitchen facility.
