ANNAM Panorama Lakeview – Garden & Balcony – WestLake Overview

Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of places around West Lake, and ANNAM Panorama honestly surprised me in the best way. When you first walk into that little alley off Âu Cơ street – and I mean really tucked away, you’ll probably walk past it once – there’s this immediate sense that you’ve found something special. The whole setup feels more like staying at a well-connected friend’s place than a typical hotel, if that makes sense.

What got me right away was how they’ve actually maximized the lake views without making it feel touristy. I mean, you’re literally steps from all the weekend chaos of Tay Ho district, but somehow this spot feels removed from it all. The garden area is where I ended up spending most mornings with coffee – and honestly, their balcony setup is pretty clever. Each room’s balcony is positioned so you’re not staring directly into your neighbor’s breakfast situation, which… you know how rare that is in Hanoi. The lake views aren’t just a marketing thing either; you can actually see the water clearly, especially from the higher floors. I watched the early morning joggers and evening fishermen, which became sort of a routine I didn’t expect to enjoy as much as I did.

The staff here actually knows the neighborhood – like, really knows it. When I asked about getting to the Temple of Literature without dealing with Old Quarter traffic, the front desk guy drew me a route through back streets I never would’ve found on my own. That’s the kind of local insight that makes a difference when you’re trying to feel less like a tourist. The rooms themselves are what I’d call thoughtfully put together; nothing fancy, but everything works and feels intentional. The AC is quiet (crucial for Hanoi summers), and the beds are actually comfortable, not just decent. I did notice some street noise in the early morning – food vendors start their rounds pretty early in Tay Ho – but honestly, it’s part of the charm of staying in a real neighborhood rather than some sterile hotel district. Check-in was smooth, parking situation is manageable if you’re renting a motorbike, and the whole vibe is just… relaxed. For the price point and that 8.4 rating, I get it. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Hanoi, but it nails what it’s going for: a genuine, comfortable base for exploring the city with some actual local character.

Reviews of ANNAM Panorama Lakeview – Garden & Balcony – WestLake

  • Katie from United States – 13 January 2025 (7/10)

It is a nice big space with a nice view and a serviceable kitchen. It was quiet, which is so hard to find in Hanoi, and nice walking distance from Tay Ho and the flower market. They had a washer dryer we could use too which was nice.

What could be improved: For the price, we expected it to be much more clean and comfortable. It felt like a long term rental that had just been left. Stickers on the walls, something moulding in the kettle, random stuff in the closet so it wasn't really usable, a random mattress in the living room. The place has nice bones, but felt like it needed a deep clean and a tidy to match the price.

  • William from France – 29 December 2024 (5/10)

What could be improved: Ce n’était pas propre, les placards étaient vides et en mauvais état, l’emplacement est vraiment isolé

  • Darya from Belarus – 18 November 2024 (8/10)

  • Hiền from Vietnam – 16 November 2024 (8/10)

  • Sofia from Russia – 14 October 2024 (8/10)

There were all essential facilities in the room, including tableware and cutlery. The room was clean and spacey. We liked the small balcony as well

What could be improved: Location is nice but there were problems with calling a taxi. Some of the drivers were confused by the tiny streets in this area and refused to drop us in the spot we pointed on the map

  • Linh from Japan – 4 September 2024 (8/10)

  • Adna from Ireland – 3 September 2024 (7/10)

The room was bright and beautiful and the bed was so comfy. The location was also great and close to many coffee shops and restaurants.

What could be improved: The fact that there wasn’t an elevator was a little annoying and something I wish I checked before I came!

  • Bernard from Vietnam – 13 July 2024 (8/10)

The room is so cute, I really love the design, thinking about coming back for a monthly stay next time I'm in Hanoi.
It was perfectly cleaned, equipped with everything I need, large windows with a beautiful lake view.
The location is good, very quiet at night, and the services around are easy to access in walking distance.

What could be improved: The location is kinda difficult for me to find as the first time I travelled there but the host was very supportive and kind. She asked me where was I and come right away to lead me and also helped me with the luggage. I really appreciate that!!

  • Hendrik from Netherlands – 12 July 2024 (8/10)

This place is specially peaceful to me. Lakefront, speechless view, quiet, I enjoy my yoga in the morning.
I will come back for long term stay if I have chance to visit again
