Look, I’ve stayed at my fair share of hotels in Hanoi, and AnnamWestlake hits that sweet spot where you actually want to hang out in your room instead of just crashing there. It’s tucked away on Xóm Chùa street in Tay Ho – you know, that artsy district where half the expats live and the other half wish they could afford to. The moment you walk in, there’s this clean, minimalist vibe that feels refreshingly uncluttered after navigating Hanoi’s beautiful chaos. What really got me though was stepping into one of their lakeview rooms. I mean, you’re literally looking out at West Lake, and if you time it right around sunset, the whole place turns golden. It’s one of those views that makes you stop scrolling your phone for a minute.

The thing about this place is it feels modern without being sterile – honestly, that’s harder to pull off than you’d think. The rooms have this sleek design with dark wood accents and these huge windows that actually open (thank god, because Vietnamese hotel AC can be… aggressive). I stayed on the fifth floor and could hear the gentle hum of motorbikes from the lakeside road, but it’s not the honking symphony you get closer to the Old Quarter. Check-in was surprisingly smooth too – the staff speaks solid English and actually knows the neighborhood well enough to give you real recommendations, not just the tourist traps. They told me about this little coffee spot two blocks down that I never would’ve found otherwise.

Here’s what I really appreciated: the location gives you the best of both worlds. You’re close enough to central Hanoi that a taxi to Hoan Kiem Lake takes maybe fifteen minutes (twenty if traffic’s being dramatic), but far enough out that you can actually sleep past sunrise without construction noise. The Tay Ho area has this laid-back vibe with decent Western food if you need a break from pho, plus you’re walking distance from some gorgeous temple complexes that most tourists skip. The hotel itself has this rooftop area where you can grab a beer and watch the lake – nothing fancy, just a few tables and chairs, but sometimes that’s exactly what you need after a day of temple-hopping and haggling at markets. Sure, it’s not the fanciest place in the city, but for the money and that view? You’d be hard-pressed to find better value in Hanoi.

  Хозяин дал четкие инструкции и был всегда на связи. Квартира чистая, с хорошим ремонтом, и красивым видом. Приветливая и уборщица, и администратор. Есть минимум посуды, микроволновая печь, проектор, шкаф, 2 стола. Есть шампунь и гель для душа приятный аромат и зубные одноразовые принадлежности. Фен. Всё как на фото. и красивая двухэтажная терраса с видом. Тихий район-спокойный, но есть где позавтракать.
  
  What could be improved: 30 сантиметров выступающих от стены – это не балкон, на него нельзя ступить. Очень маленькое количество розеток по всему дому и все достаточно далеко не удобно. Не смотря на то, что район тихий, пол ночи выла собака под окнами, а утром петух кукарекал.

  The three Ls: Location, Location, Location.
  My studio apt had a nice lakeview which I enjoyed a lot. Big panorama window in the bedroom and a very comfy bed. Bathroom spacious, shower is good. Easy to find at the end of a little entryway.
  Owners run it professionally, nice contact. I got a free upgrade and an early check in.

  What could be improved: Les chiens d’à côté aboient constamment et nous réveillent la nuit. Il faisait assez froid dans l’appartement et il n’y avait pas tout le temps d’eau chaude dans la douche.
