Au Coeur d’Hanoi Boutique Hotel Overview

First Impressions

Walking into Au Coeur d’Hanoi Boutique Hotel feels like discovering a hidden gem tucked away in the bustling Old Quarter. The name literally means “at the heart of Hanoi,” and honestly, they weren’t kidding — you’re right in the thick of everything that makes this city pulse. It’s a three-star property, but don’t let that fool you into thinking it’s basic. The lobby has this warm, intimate feel that immediately tells you this isn’t your typical cookie-cutter hotel.

Perfect Old Quarter Location

You know what I love about staying on Hang Be Street? You’re literally steps away from Hoan Kiem Lake — I mean, you can walk there in about three minutes. The location score of 9.4 makes total sense when you realize you’re surrounded by street food vendors, local cafes, and those narrow alleyways that make Hanoi so enchanting. Couples especially seem to get it (they rated the location 9.5), probably because there’s something romantic about wandering these ancient streets together. The weekend night market is practically at your doorstep, and you’ll hear the gentle hum of motorbikes and street life that somehow becomes oddly soothing.

The Room Experience

My room was compact but thoughtfully designed — exactly what you’d expect from a boutique property in the Old Quarter where space is precious. The windows actually open (which I always appreciate), and you get glimpses of daily Vietnamese life happening right below. The air conditioning works well, which is crucial during Hanoi’s humid months. What struck me was how clean everything felt, and the bed was surprisingly comfortable for a place in this price range. The bathroom’s small but functional, with decent water pressure — honestly, that’s all you really need after a day of exploring.

Morning Fuel

The buffet breakfast is served on the upper floor, and while it’s not elaborate, it hits the right notes. You’ll find a mix of Western basics and Vietnamese options — the pho is actually pretty decent, which says something since you’re in the city where it was invented. I appreciated having fresh fruit and strong Vietnamese coffee to start the day. The dining area has these large windows that let in morning light, and you can watch the city wake up while you eat. It’s simple but satisfying, especially when you consider you’re paying three-star prices in one of Hanoi’s most sought-after neighborhoods.

Why Guests Love It

This place works because it understands what travelers actually want — a clean, comfortable base in an unbeatable location without breaking the bank. The staff genuinely seems to care about helping you navigate the city, and they’re quick with recommendations that feel authentic rather than touristy. You’re not getting premium amenities, but you are getting that boutique attention to detail and a front-row seat to authentic Hanoi life. For couples especially, there’s something special about stepping out your door and immediately being part of this incredible, chaotic, beautiful city that’s been captivating visitors for centuries.

Hotels in Hanoi line Hoan Kiem promenades, colonial boulevards, and lakeside neighborhoods buzzing with coffee culture.

  • Roberto from Italy – 4 April 2023 (9/10)

The hotel is located in an excellent position, very close to the lake, the staff is so kind and nice, they helped us for anything we asked for!

What could be improved: Everything ok, but if I have to mention something, some parts of hotel look a bit old-fashioned or not perfectly cleaned, and can be improved

  • Javier from Mexico – 7 January 2023 (9/10)

Amazing breakfast, pho soup prepared every day, almost any request I had they cater for me. They even prepared a lunch box for us one day we left the hotel super early in the morning for an excursion.

What could be improved: The price is just right for the room, the only thing that could be better is the ensuite bathroom is a bit old and small, but the location is close to everything, comfortable room size, and above all, the hotel staff friendliness and service is unbeatable and compensates for those minute details.
