Look, I’ve stayed at my fair share of hotels in Hanoi’s Old Quarter, and Aurora Premium actually gets it right in ways that surprised me. The location on Hàng Bè street is one of those perfect spots that most tourists walk right past – you’re literally a two-minute walk from Hoan Kiem Lake, but you’re tucked away from the chaos of Ta Hien beer corner and the weekend night market crowds. I mean, you can still hear the occasional motorbike symphony (this is Hanoi, after all), but it’s not the full-blast street party you get closer to the main drags.

What struck me first was honestly how they managed to fit a proper lobby into one of these narrow Old Quarter buildings – most places just have a tiny reception desk and a prayer that the elevator works. Here, there’s actual space to breathe, and the design hits that sweet spot between modern comfort and acknowledging you’re in a historic neighborhood. The staff seem to actually know the area too, which sounds basic but you’d be amazed how many hotel workers can’t tell you where to find decent pho at 6 AM or which tailors on Hang Gai won’t rip you off.

The rooms themselves are well… they’re what you’d expect from a proper 4-star place, but with thoughtful touches that matter when you’re dealing with Hanoi’s humidity and unpredictable weather. Good blackout curtains (essential if you’re jet-lagged and the street vendors start their 5 AM routine), decent water pressure, and – this is key – reliable air conditioning that doesn’t sound like a construction site. I’ve been in too many boutique hotels where they prioritize Instagram-worthy aesthetics over whether you can actually sleep comfortably. The Wi-Fi reaches every corner of the room, which is more than I can say for some supposedly premium places I’ve tried.

You know what really sold me though? It’s the little operational stuff that shows they understand their guests. Check-in was smooth even when I arrived at that awkward 11 AM time, they store luggage without making you feel like you’re asking for a huge favor, and when I needed to extend my stay by a night, it wasn’t this whole production. Plus, the breakfast setup – while not huge – has actual Vietnamese options alongside the Western standards, and they don’t make you feel rushed even when it gets busy. The rooftop area gives you those Old Quarter views without the tourist trap pricing you’d pay at the bars around St. Joseph’s Cathedral.

Honestly, for the price point and that 9.6 rating, I went in expecting either a marketing exaggeration or some major hidden catch. But Aurora Premium is one of those places that just… works. It’s comfortable without being stuffy, local without being touristy, and efficient without feeling impersonal. If you’re looking for a solid base to explore Hanoi’s Old Quarter without dealing with the usual boutique hotel quirks or chain hotel blandness, this is a pretty safe bet.

  Staff were exceptional. The room was a bit small, but had everything and was quite comfortable. The food in the restaurant was great. The location near the lake in the old town was perfect. All good!

  We truly enjoyed our stay at Aurora Premium! Phenomenal location in the heart of the Old Quarter. Delicious breakfast buffet in the high-floor restaurant with views of the city. The rooftop has a lovely atmosphere and offers reasonably priced drinks and an evening Happy Hour. We also took advantage of the hotel spa's 50% off massage services in the morning.
  
  Receptionist *Zoe* was super helpful and friendly during our entire stay from check-in to check-out! She offered so many great suggestions for our visit. We really liked the cookies that are provided during check-in, and Zoe helped us order some more to take home 🙂
  
  What could be improved: A little bit noisy outside from all the motorbikes beeping, but that's to be expected when staying in the heart of Hanoi!

  This is an exceptional hotel in the centre of Hanoi. It is well located for the lake etc making it easy for travellers to walk around the city. The staff were professional and welcoming, providing an excellent service – nothing is too much trouble. The hotel is immaculately presented with a great breakfast selection and views across Hanoi, from the restaurant. There is a roof top bar (open to non-residents) with fabulous views and again the bar staff were highly accommodating. We had a suite that overlooked the main road at the front of the hotel – it wasn't that noisy as we stayed during the weekend. It was a fantastic room with a sofa to relax. During the weekend, the roads around the area are closed to traffic. During our stay, we had direct contact with Heidi via WattsApp which proved useful for her top tips etc. We had a minor issue with the TV, but David (another staff member) assisted us and it was soon sorted out – excellent. We stayed 3 nights and had to leave for the airport very early on the final morning. The kitchen arranged for takeaway breakfast boxes – 3 in total! They were jammed with goodies for our trip! I would highly recommend this hotel – thank you.

  I love everything about our stay in this hotel – the facilities, breakfast, cleanliness, magnificent view from our room and especially the exceptional guest services. All staff are friendly and helpful. Six of us arrived in this hotel from our Sapa trip and after informing reception that 3 are my sister's family travelling back home that night. I am impressed and genuinely appreciated that they arranged a taxi for them, and they treated them well. That is very impressive and what I call a top-notch service that few hotels would do. I would like to particularly mention and thank Zoey, Ly, and Chau.

  The best hotel we’ve ever been to. The staff is super nice, the hotel is clean, modern and well-located. Sky bar is one of the best – you also get one free drink as the inhouse guest. Breakfast on the 11th floor is also a great experience.
