Bendecir Hotel & Spa Overview
Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of places in Hanoi’s Old Quarter, and honestly? Most of them are either cramped backpacker joints or those sterile business hotels that could be anywhere. But Bendecir Hotel & Spa on Lo Su Street – well, it’s actually something different. The moment you walk in, there’s this immediate sense that someone really thought about the details here. The lobby has this warm, contemporary Vietnamese aesthetic that doesn’t feel forced or touristy, you know? And the staff at check-in seemed genuinely happy to see me, not just going through the motions.
What really struck me about this place is how they’ve managed to create a proper spa retreat vibe right in the heart of the chaos. I mean, step outside and you’re immediately hit with the beautiful madness of Hoan Kiem – the motorbikes, the street food vendors, the constant hum of activity. But inside Bendecir, there’s this almost zen-like quality that I wasn’t expecting from a 4-star place. The spa treatments are actually legit too – I did a traditional Vietnamese massage that left me feeling like a new person. The rooms themselves are well-appointed without being flashy, and here’s something that matters if you’re a light sleeper: the soundproofing is surprisingly good. You can still hear the city if you listen for it, but it’s more like a gentle background hum than the full assault you get at some Old Quarter hotels.
The location is honestly perfect if you want to experience real Hanoi without being stuck in the most touristy parts. Lo Su Street puts you close enough to walk to Hoan Kiem Lake in about five minutes, but you’re also surrounded by authentic local life – there’s this incredible pho place literally around the corner that I stumbled upon at 6 AM (because jet lag, obviously), and it was packed with locals heading to work. The hotel’s breakfast is solid, nothing revolutionary but they know their audience – good coffee, fresh fruit, and both Vietnamese and Western options that don’t feel like afterthoughts. I stayed here during shoulder season in October, and the 8.4 rating honestly feels about right. It’s not going to blow your mind, but everything works well, the service is attentive without being overbearing, and there’s something genuinely relaxing about returning here after long days exploring the city. If you’re looking for that sweet spot between authenticity and comfort in Hanoi, this place delivers.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Great location. Rooms clean and comfortable.
Paul from United Kingdom – 14 May 2025 (8/10)
Location was excellent. Staff were very friendly and rooftop bar was a nice meeting point.
Rooms were very spacious and beds big and comfy.
Rooms were spotlessly clean.
What could be improved: The single lift was a problem particularly at checkout time, and as we were on the 5th floor, using the steep staircase was not an option. Not a major issue unless you have a driver picking you up around checkout time (as we did). Would be helpful if other guests didn't hold the lift for prolonged periods on lower floors.Linn from Germany – 22 April 2025 (9/10)
Rooftopbar is great, comfortable bed, modern bathroom
What could be improved: My room had no windowPhilip from Canada – 22 April 2025 (8/10)
The location and staff were absolutely perfect. Close enough to the old quarter without being in the thick of it.
What could be improved: The sound insulation was pretty terrible – without ear plugs I could hear everything outside and inside the building. Thankfully I had a good pair with me so it didn’t impact my stay at all.Jacqueline from South Africa – 18 April 2025 (8/10)
Location and friendlyness of staff
What could be improved: Were all good, nothing that I dislikedVbj-go from Singapore – 31 March 2025 (9/10)
Had a 4 th floor deluxe room in the extension wing and it was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast restaurant was small but had a good spread and a good view of f the city too.
Tina from United Kingdom – 14 March 2025 (8/10)
Excellent location, and room was good, only the window looked out onto a wall but the cost was very good so was good value for money
What could be improved: View from the windowRonald from United Kingdom – 5 March 2025 (8/10)
Very efficient hotel
What could be improved: Breakfast could do with more variety and spaceSonal from Australia – 24 February 2025 (8/10)
Location, cordial staff
What could be improved: Less Vegetarian options in breakfast.Dace from Latvia – 23 February 2025 (9/10)
The staff were very welcoming and helpful. Made my stay pleasant and enjoyable. Breakfast choice was good and it has nearby a lot of nice restaurants and cafes. I would return if I come back
What could be improved: I had to book for the last night a higher price room directly at the hotel as it was unplanned stay. The room was nice but I couldn’t close fully balcony door so it was a bit windy. I didn’t mind but it might be an issue for someone
I wouldn’t recommend book Ha Lang Bay trip via the hotel. It’s not their fault but the offer I took was kind of disappointing. Not worth of money I paid. Plus price online and what I paid at hotel differ rather significantly.
