Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first rolled up to Cam Art Double Suites – the name’s a bit of a mouthful, right? But this place actually surprised me in the best way possible. It’s tucked right on Quang Ba street in Tay Ho, which means you’re basically in the sweet spot where local Hanoi life happens. I mean, you’ve got the West Lake literally a five-minute walk away, but more importantly, you’re surrounded by this incredible food scene that most tourists completely miss.

The suites themselves are pretty spacious – and I’m talking actually spacious, not that “cozy” hotel-speak nonsense where you can barely open your suitcase. Each room has this sort of contemporary art vibe going on (hence the name, I guess), but it doesn’t feel pretentious or anything. What really got me was how quiet it stays despite being right in the middle of everything. The bars around here can get lively, especially on weekends, but somehow the rooms block out most of the street noise. The air conditioning actually works too, which – trust me – matters a lot during Hanoi’s sticky summer months.

You know what really sets this place apart though? The location is just perfect for experiencing real Hanoi. Walk out the front door and you’re immediately on one of the city’s best food streets. There’s this tiny pho place about thirty meters to your left that opens at 6 AM and usually sells out by 9 – the broth is incredible. The staff at Cam Art actually knows about spots like this and they’re not shy about sharing recommendations. Plus, being in Tay Ho means you can easily bike around the lake in the morning before the motorbike chaos really gets going, or grab a coffee at one of those lakeside cafes where expats hang out. The whole area has this laid-back vibe that’s totally different from the Old Quarter madness – which is great, don’t get me wrong, but sometimes you need somewhere to actually breathe. Check-in was smooth, parking isn’t a nightmare if you’re renting a scooter, and honestly, for a 4-star place, it punches way above its weight. The only tiny thing I’d mention is that the elevator can be a bit slow during busy times, but that’s me being picky. If you want to stay somewhere that feels connected to actual Hanoi life rather than just tourist central, this is your spot.
