What I really appreciated was the neighborhood feel – you’re tucked into this quiet alley where kids play soccer in the evenings and vendors roll through with their calls, but it’s a five-minute walk to the lake when you want that postcard Hanoi moment. The motorbike situation is manageable here too, which isn’t always the case in this part of town. You’re close enough to walk to some excellent bún chả spots that tourists don’t usually find (there’s this place two streets over that locals line up for around 11:30 AM). The area gets genuinely quiet at night, which was perfect after long days exploring the city – no karaoke bars directly underneath or construction starting at 6 AM like some parts of Hanoi.

Look, it’s not luxury hotel polished, but the 9.5 rating makes sense when you consider what you’re getting for the price point. Everything worked when I needed it to, the WiFi didn’t cut out during video calls home, and the air conditioning actually cooled the space down efficiently. The owner was responsive when I had questions about the washing machine, and check-in was straightforward – no standing around lobby areas or dealing with complicated key card systems. Sometimes the simplest things matter most when you’re tired from travel.
