You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first heard the name “The Matrix One” – honestly, it sounds like something from a sci-fi movie. But this serviced apartment on Lê Quang Đạo completely surprised me, and I mean that in the best way possible. The moment you walk into the lobby, there’s this sleek, modern vibe that actually lives up to the futuristic name, with clean lines and this gorgeous marble flooring that somehow doesn’t feel cold or sterile.

The location is what really got me though – Lê Quang Đạo is one of those streets in Hanoi that’s perfectly positioned without being chaotic. You’re close enough to the action (about 15 minutes to the Old Quarter if you grab a taxi) but far enough away that you can actually sleep at night without motorbikes honking outside your window at 2 AM. There’s a Circle K literally around the corner, which became my best friend for late-night snack runs, and this little local phở place about two blocks down that serves breakfast until 10 AM – the owner speaks decent English too, which is always a bonus.

What really sets this place apart is the attention to detail in the apartments themselves. I stayed in a one-bedroom unit on the 12th floor, and honestly, the view of the city at sunset was worth the price alone. The kitchen is actually functional – I mean, you can cook real meals here, not just heat up instant noodles. The washing machine is tucked away nicely, and there’s enough counter space to spread out your laptop and work comfortably. The bed was firm (which I personally love), and the air conditioning was whisper quiet – crucial during Hanoi’s sweltering summer months. The Wi-Fi was solid throughout my stay, even during video calls with colleagues back home. One tiny thing that bugged me was the shower pressure could be a bit stronger, but that’s pretty much my only complaint. The building has decent security too – you need a key card for the elevator, which made me feel safer as a solo traveler. Check-in was smooth, and the staff actually remembered my name by day two, which rarely happens at bigger hotels.
