Capella Hanoi Overview
Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first walked up to Capella Hanoi – the entrance on Lê Phụng Hiểu is pretty understated, almost like they don’t want to show off. But then you step inside and it hits you: this place gets it. The lobby has this quiet sophistication that feels more like stepping into someone’s incredibly well-appointed home than a hotel. You know what I mean? None of that marble-everywhere, look-how-fancy-we-are energy that some five-stars throw at you.
The location is actually perfect if you want to be in Old Quarter without dealing with the chaos of Hàng Bạc or those touristy streets. Lê Phụng Hiểu is one of those narrow lanes that locals use as shortcuts, so you’re literally in the heart of things but on a quieter side street. I could walk to Hoan Kiem Lake in maybe three minutes – and I’m talking about the good side near Ngoc Son Temple, not where all the tour buses dump people. The staff seemed genuinely surprised when I knew to ask about the back entrance near the temple; apparently most guests just stick to the main tourist loop. Their concierge (this guy named Minh who’s been working hotels in Hanoi for like fifteen years) gave me restaurant recommendations that were actually good – not the usual expat-friendly places that charge triple for mediocre pho.
What really sold me was the attention to small stuff that most places completely miss. The room had this beautiful lacquered writing desk that wasn’t just for show – it had proper lighting and enough space to actually work. The bathroom toiletries smelled like lemongrass instead of generic hotel soap, and the bed was firm enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been sleeping on a marshmallow for a week. You can barely hear street noise even though you’re right in the middle of everything – I’m guessing they invested serious money in soundproofing because Hanoi can get pretty intense with the motorbike traffic. Check-in was smooth too, no standing around waiting while they “prepared the system” or whatever hotels do when they’re disorganized. The whole experience just felt… thoughtful, I guess? Like someone actually considered what it’s like to stay there rather than just throwing luxury amenities at the problem. With a 9.6 rating, I wasn’t the only one who noticed – though honestly, I’m kind of glad it’s not more famous because places like this tend to lose their charm once everyone discovers them.

Reviews of Capella Hanoi
Jordan from Australia – 5 June 2025 (10/10)
I stayed at the Capella Hanoi as a solo female traveller, and it was truly the most exquisite hotel experience I have ever had. Every detail of this hotel is a masterpiece. Luxury and art are woven into every corner, from the decor to the atmosphere.
The staff were outstanding: warm, attentive, and made me feel genuinely cared for. Dining at Backstage was a highlight, with world-class cuisine and an ambiance that felt both elegant and inviting. The lounge and bars were equally impressive, perfect for relaxing with a cocktail and soaking in the beauty of the space.
This is not just a hotel, it is an experience. I cannot recommend Capella Hanoi highly enough. It has completely raised the bar for what a luxury stay should be.
What could be improved: Nothing!Harman from India – 25 May 2025 (10/10)
1) Location is perfect in old quarters of Ha Noi, all major attractions are at walkable distances from the property.
2) The staff is extremely polite, thoughtful and helpful. I would like to give special mention to Ms. Vikky (Vicky? not sure about the spelling) at the reception who helped us with the early check in, gave us an upgrade to deluxe suit with minimal charges. The Deluxe suit was really a great idea as we were travelling with our 4yrs old kid.
3) Right from the security personnels to bell boys to waiters and everyone else is extremely polite, helpful, always with a smile on and are ready to go an extra mile when it comes to help the travellers. They don't do this for "Tips" but you wouldn't go without tipping them. Nice, sweet, honest people.
4) They even allowed us to store our luggage for no cost, 2 days after checkout as our flight was late in the evening and we wanted to explore Ha-Noi during the day. (We were just back from Ha-Long Bay)
5) They serve amazzzzzzing Vietnamese coffee at the bar, a must try!!
6) They also have Michelin star restaurant !!!
We loved our stay at Capella, Ha Noi.
10000% recommended !Yaroslava from Ukraine – 14 May 2025 (10/10)
The bed is amazingly comfortable, and the pillows are by far the best I’ve ever experienced anywhere.
The location is convenient, and the staff very friendly and welcoming.
What could be improved: There’s a bit of noise coming from the street outside.Daniel from Taiwan – 11 May 2025 (10/10)
What an amazing place! Everything there is just special! Great Art Deco decor and themes across the whole hotel. Best Spa area of any hotel in Hanoi. Restaurants are all Michelin star or rated. Best tea time, best breakfast! Great amenities in the room! Good transportation options!
What could be improved: Hard not to like everything! One very minor gripe is the bathroom door when open hides the one light switch for both bathrooms. So had to hunt for the light switch… but that's very minor, everything was amazing!Ryo from Japan – 5 May 2025 (10/10)

Stunning hotel with beautifully designed interiors and extremely kind and welcoming staff. They truly went above and beyond for us. They way they finessed every little detail is what sets them apart from all other 5 star properties.
