So I stumbled across Charm Home 4 while wandering around Hoan Kiem, and honestly? The name doesn’t do it justice. This little four-star gem sits right on Đường Thành 2, which – if you know Old Quarter at all – puts you in this sweet spot where you’re close enough to hear the morning motorbike symphony but far enough from the main drag that you can actually sleep. The building itself has this understated elegance that feels refreshingly honest after seeing so many places trying too hard with their marble lobbies and gold everything.

What really got me was how the staff seemed to actually care about getting the details right. Check-in was smooth (they had my room ready at 2 PM, not the usual “come back at 4” dance), and the woman at the front desk – I think her name was Linh – gave me this hand-drawn map with all the good phở spots marked in red ink. You know what I mean? The kind of touches that make you realize someone’s paying attention. The rooms are clean without being sterile, and the beds are actually comfortable, which… well, anyone who’s done the budget hotel circuit in Southeast Asia knows that’s not a given. Air conditioning works properly too – I mean, it’s Vietnam in summer, so that’s basically essential. The Wi-Fi reaches every corner of my room, which was on the third floor, and it’s fast enough for video calls home without that annoying lag.

Location-wise, you’re maybe a seven-minute walk to Hoàn Kiếm Lake if you take the shortcut through the narrow alley (ask them to show you – it’s not obvious), and the weekend night market is close enough that you can pop over for bánh mì and be back before the good street food vendors pack up. There’s this tiny coffee shop two doors down that opens at 6 AM and serves cà phê sữa đá that’ll wake you up properly, plus the owner speaks decent English if you want to chat. The area gets busy during lunch and dinner rushes – typical Old Quarter chaos with the honking and food vendors calling out – but it settles down by 9 PM, so you can leave your windows open for the breeze. Honestly, with a 9-star rating, I was expecting maybe some rough edges, but this place has figured out how to balance that authentic Hanoi vibe with the kind of comfort that makes you want to extend your stay. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in the district, but sometimes that’s exactly what makes it special.

  La maison est particulièrement bien située dans le vieux quartier d'Hanoï.
  Chanh vous accueille comme si vous étiez un membre de sa famille, elle vraiment sympathique et très réactive, son seul objectif est que vous passiez un excellent séjour.
  La maison possède deux chambres à coucher avec une excellente literie, un salon, une cuisine très bien équipée, une salle de bain et un roof top.
  Le quartier est très calme et reposant.
