Cozy Homestay Overview

You know what struck me first about Cozy Homestay? The name actually fits – and that’s honestly pretty rare in Vietnam where places love to oversell themselves. It’s tucked away on this quiet section of Lê Thanh Nghị, which is perfect because you’re still in Hai Ba Trung district (so everything’s accessible) but you don’t get the motorbike symphony at 6 AM that you’d deal with on the main drag.

The owners – I think they’re a local family who converted part of their building – they’ve got this thing figured out. It feels like staying at someone’s well-organized cousin’s place, if that makes sense. The rooms are clean without being sterile, and they’ve actually thought about what travelers need. Good water pressure (seriously, this matters more than you think in Hanoi), decent WiFi that doesn’t cut out every time it rains, and – here’s the kicker – they help you navigate the neighborhood without being pushy about it. The woman at reception told me about this little bún chả place two blocks over that I never would’ve found otherwise, and it was honestly better than the touristy spots near Hoàn Kiếm Lake.

Location-wise, you’re maybe a 15-minute walk to the Old Quarter if you’re feeling energetic, or there’s always Grab if the weather’s being typical Hanoi weather. What I really appreciated though was being close enough to the action without being in the middle of it – you can actually have a conversation in your room without shouting over street noise. The 8.4 rating makes sense to me because it’s not trying to be something fancy, it’s just doing the basics really well. I mean, the breakfast isn’t going to blow your mind, but it’s solid Vietnamese coffee and fresh fruit, and they time it so everything’s ready when you actually want to eat, not at some arbitrary hotel schedule. Only thing I’d mention is that the stairs are pretty steep (typical for these converted buildings), so if you’ve got heavy luggage or mobility issues, definitely ask for a lower floor when you book. But honestly? For the price point and the genuine hospitality, this place gets what solo travelers and couples actually want from a Hanoi stay.

The area surrounding, the place was quiet, easy access

What could be improved: The place needs a deep clean. The luggage of the previous tenant was still in my room. The entrance was blocked by motorbikes almost the whole time, might not be good for the hazard situations.

  • Franco from Italy – 30 March 2024 (9/10)

    Local area
    No traffic noise

What could be improved: If you travel as a tourist its a little far from centrum.

  • Tom from Colombia – 10 September 2023 (9/10)

10/10 Points everything fine, even let me Park my motobike for Free, thx

    What could be improved: nothing

  • Gabriela from Chile – 3 December 2022 (9/10)

Even the location is a little bit far for the must attractions in Hanoi, here you are able to know the local life and you have a lot of options of food for great prices.

What could be improved: The only weak point is the cleanliness, especially in the kitchen, but is not a problem if you go out for having your meals.
