GRAND CITITEL Hanoi Hotel & Spa Overview
You know what struck me first about the GRAND CITITEL? The location is absolutely perfect – and I mean that in the most practical way possible. It’s tucked right on Tong Dan Street, which honestly sounds like nothing special until you realize you’re literally steps from Hoan Kiem Lake and the chaos of the Old Quarter, but without actually being in the thick of it. I’ve stayed in places right in the heart of the Old Quarter before, and while the energy is incredible, the motorbike symphony at 5 AM gets old fast.
The hotel itself has this solid, established feel – not flashy new, but well-maintained in that way that makes you trust the place immediately. The lobby has marble floors that actually stay cool even in Hanoi’s sticky summers, and the staff genuinely seems to know what they’re doing (which, let’s be honest, isn’t always a given). What I really appreciated was how they handle the practical stuff – the elevators work consistently, the wifi doesn’t drop out every ten minutes, and the air conditioning is strong enough to make you forget it’s 95 degrees and humid outside. The spa is actually worth mentioning too – I’m usually skeptical of hotel spas, but this one feels separate and professional, not just an afterthought with a massage table shoved in a converted closet.
Here’s the thing about staying here: you’re close enough to walk to Ngoc Son Temple in about three minutes, but far enough from the weekend night market crowds that you can actually get some sleep. The street it’s on connects to Trang Tien, which means you’re basically positioned between the lake and the French Quarter area – perfect if you want to explore both the touristy stuff and the more upscale Vietnamese scene. I found myself grabbing coffee at places locals actually go to, just by walking in different directions from the hotel each morning. The neighborhood has this lived-in feel where you’ll see office workers grabbing pho next to tourists taking Instagram photos, which honestly feels more authentic than being trapped in a hotel district. With an 8.9 rating, it’s clearly doing something right – and after staying there, I get it. It’s one of those places that handles the basics really well while giving you a genuine sense of being in Hanoi, not just visiting a hotel that happens to be in Vietnam.

I had an outstanding experience at Grand Cititel Hotel. Alex provided incredibly helpful travel information, ensuring I had all the details needed to make my journey smooth and stress-free. His knowledge and guidance were invaluable.
Helena and Ivy delivered wonderful service, offering delicious tea, assisting with photocopying, and carefully managing luggage storage. Their attentiveness and warm hospitality made the entire experience even more enjoyable.
A big thank you to Alex, Helena, and Ivy for their professionalism and kindness. I highly recommend them for anyone in need of reliable travel support and excellent service!Manju from Singapore – 8 April 2025 (9/10)
Location was good though the entrance to the hotel is bit hidden. Terrace Bar area was good and refreshing. Reception staff was very helpful, polite and forthcoming.
What could be improved: At the bathroom the mirror was on the side which was bit weird as I had to turn around to shave. On arrival be ready to fetch your luggage from the main road uptown the entrance which is about 50 m or so away. Hardly any vegetarian choice at the breakfast except fruit, breads, yogurt and corn-rice.Liu from China – 5 April 2025 (9/10)
The staff are super helpful and welcoming Nice location and the breakfast is also great. We had a very comfortable stay!

The room looks great and clean, and the staff were nice. However, I noticed some ants near the sink and desk. Also, the hotel entrance requires a short walk from the main road through an old, small alley, but it’s not too deep.

Breakfast is very good. The staff is friendly and helpfull. The room is nice and big enough. The price is OK

Grand Cititel is in Hanoi's Old Quarter. Its location is perfect, just a short walk from the lively Old Quarter while still being quiet enough for a peaceful stay, plus it's near a bus station for trips to Ninh Binh or Sa Pa.
The hotel is very clean. The breakfast buffet offers both continental dishes and local treats.
What really stands out is the friendly and helpful staff, the reliable front desk team, everyone makes you feel welcome. Special thanks go to Alex, who helped me find good local restaurants, give directions to museums, and where to see the train and Long Bien bridge, really save time searching.Renata from Poland – 21 March 2025 (9/10)
Great location, delicious breakfast and clean and comfortable room.
Jacqueline from Australia – 17 March 2025 (9/10)
Room was very spacious, staff went above and beyond and even held my suitcase for 4 days no charge, while I was away. Breakfast was very good with lots of options and very fresh. Great location in the old quarter and very close to walk to the Opera house. Cute rooftop area with basic gym if you wanted to do the bare minimum for exercise there. I'd stay here again if I ever visited Hanoi again and definitely recommend it.
What could be improved: No hooks in the bathroom to put towels up to dry. Only a small thing but noticeable when you need them to dry for another use.
