Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places around West Lake, but LUCK APART 9 honestly surprised me in the best way. You know that feeling when you walk into a place and it’s actually better than the photos? That’s what happened here. The balcony – and I mean this – has one of those views that makes you want to grab your coffee and just sit there for way longer than you planned. West Lake spreads out in front of you, and in the early morning when the mist is still hanging over the water, it’s pretty magical.

The location on Tô Ngọc Vân is really smart, actually. You’re tucked into this residential area that feels authentically Hanoi – none of that touristy stuff – but you can still walk to the main lakeside cafés in about ten minutes. I mean, you’ll navigate through some typical narrow alleys (ngõ 45, then ngách 21 if you’re keeping track), but that’s part of the charm, right? The apartment itself feels properly lived-in rather than sterile hotel-room clean, which I personally prefer. Good AC, decent Wi-Fi, and the kitchen actually has everything you need if you want to grab some ingredients from the local market. The bed’s comfortable enough, though the street can get a bit lively in the evenings – nothing crazy, just the usual motorbike sounds and neighbor conversations that come with staying in a real neighborhood.

What really sold me on this place is how it sits in that sweet spot between authentic local living and having the comfort stuff you actually need as a traveler. The building’s got character – it’s not some shiny new development – and honestly, that 8.3 rating feels about right. It’s not perfect (the shower pressure could be stronger, and finding the entrance the first time took me a few tries), but it delivers on what matters most. You’re genuinely staying in Tay Ho like someone who lives here, not like a tourist passing through. The owner responds quickly to messages, check-in was straightforward, and there’s something satisfying about having your morning coffee on that balcony while watching the lake come alive. If you want to experience Hanoi’s West Lake area without the typical hotel bubble, and you don’t mind a bit of local neighborhood energy, this place gets it right.

  Cleaniness is spot on. Fully equipped kitchen. Good posh locality. 6-7 kms away from the city centre (old quarter). Pictures accurately depicts the apartment. So, if someone likes to stay away from the hustle bustle of the city centre can certainly book this. Ideal for a small family.

  Really nice apartment and super spacious and clean. Check in was a bit of trouble though, there was no staff onsite but luckily I was able to message with the host to help with getting in.

  The entire apartment was very nicely done up and well stocked with everything you need for a short to long stay, including a selection of books (that was a nice touch). Beds were comfortable, bathrooms were clean. Very easy to go in and out of the apartment at any time of day or night. Nicely located, within walking distance of lots of cute restaurants, cafes and bars. Also very close to supermarkets and mini marts. We had to pay upfront which was easy to do via a link provided by the hosts.
  
  What could be improved: There was a little bit of confusion while trying to find the apartment but we managed in the end. A sign outside could help. Another con was that the power to the flat was turned off before we got there which meant the fridge was also switched off and had become slightly smelly.

  The apartment that I originally booked wasn't available, but they were kind enough to alert me and propose a new location ahead of time. The replacement apartment was amazing. It was a beautifully decorated unit with a balcony (the view was nice!), a bathtub which I definitely enjoyed, and everything else that I could need. There were also food options nearby. Definitely good value for money!
  
  What could be improved: There was confusion about the check-in and payment at first due to the language barrier, but we figured it out in the end. Overall, it was a satisfying stay.
