The name makes it sound like some generic homestay, but honestly, this place has way more character than half the boutique hotels I’ve stayed at in Hanoi’s Old Quarter. The location on Phố Hàng Vôi is pretty much perfect – I mean, you’re literally three minutes from Hoan Kiem Lake, but tucked away enough that you’re not dealing with the tourist chaos right at your doorstep.

The balcony situation is actually legit, which surprised me because so many places advertise balconies that turn out to be glorified ledges. Here, you can actually sit out there with your morning coffee and watch the street vendors setting up their stalls below. There’s something addictive about the early morning rhythm in this neighborhood – the motorbike symphony starts around 6 AM, but it’s not the jarring kind of noise you’d expect. It sort of becomes this background hum that makes you feel plugged into the real Hanoi. The rooms themselves feel thoughtfully put together, not like someone just threw some furniture against the walls and called it a day. I particularly liked the mix of traditional Vietnamese touches with modern conveniences – they’ve managed to avoid that sterile hotel feel while still giving you reliable WiFi and proper air conditioning (crucial during summer months, trust me).

What really sold me on this place was how the staff seemed to actually know the neighborhood. When I asked about finding good pho that wasn’t touristy, they didn’t just point me toward the usual suspects but suggested this tiny spot two blocks over where I ended up eating three times during my stay. Walking to Hoan Kiem Lake really does take about three minutes, and you pass through some of the most atmospheric streets in the Old Quarter – past the silk shops and incense vendors, through those narrow alleys where laundry hangs between buildings like colorful flags. The lake itself is especially beautiful at sunset, when the locals come out for their evening walks and the street food vendors start firing up their grills. Getting back to the hotel after dinner was never a hassle, even when the weekend night market crowds picked up. I stayed here during shoulder season in October, and while the area gets busy during peak evening hours, it settles into this peaceful residential vibe by around 10 PM. The 8.6 rating feels about right – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Hanoi, but it nails the things that actually matter when you’re exploring a city like this: location, comfort, and that feeling like you’re staying somewhere with a bit of soul rather than just another generic accommodation.

  The location was good, old quarters, busy street with all things needed close by. Since it's old quarters no lift so be ready to carry your heavy luggage by yourself. All facility is available in the room. We had a comfortable stay. Value for money!!

  What could be improved: Il faut isoler la porte donnant sur le balcon et la cuisine. Le bruit de la rue est tres fort. La literie est bonne.

  Appartement cosy, confortable, propre et fonctionnel à deux pas du vieux Hanoi. Cuisine avec ce qu'il faut pour cuisiner et petite terrasse très sympa.

  The location is great and the apartment is well equipped with a washing machine, ac, and basic kitchen. It has 2 couple-beds in the same room. Basic bathroom but worked fine.
  
  What could be improved: The sound isolation isn't that good. I could hear the street and also the loud neighbor I had.
