You know what caught me off guard about HANA Stay? Walking up to this place on Phan Kế Bính street, I honestly wasn’t expecting much – it’s tucked between some pretty ordinary buildings in Ba Dinh district. But the moment you step inside, there’s this immediate sense that someone actually thought about how travelers want to feel. The lobby’s got this warm, lived-in vibe that’s way more inviting than those sterile chain hotels you see everywhere.

The location is actually brilliant once you figure out the neighborhood. I mean, you’re basically a ten-minute walk from the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum (which, let’s be honest, you probably should see even if it’s not your thing), and the Temple of Literature is right there too. But here’s what the guidebooks don’t tell you – there’s this incredible little coffee scene happening on the side streets around here. The locals have their morning routine down to a science, and you’ll find yourself stumbling into these tiny places where the coffee’s stronger than you expected and costs about a dollar. The Ba Dinh area gets pretty quiet in the evenings compared to the Old Quarter chaos, which I actually loved after long days of exploring. You can hear yourself think, you know?

What really sold me on this place was the attention to detail that felt genuine rather than performative. The rooms have this clean, contemporary thing going on without trying too hard to be trendy. The beds are actually comfortable – and I’m someone who usually tosses and turns in hotel beds. The staff seems to genuinely know the area well; when I asked about getting to Dong Xuan Market, the front desk guy didn’t just point me toward a taxi but explained the bus route and mentioned which entrance to use to avoid the tourist crowds. That 8.4 rating makes total sense when you stay there – it’s not perfect (the WiFi gets a bit spotty on the upper floors, and the elevator moves like it’s thinking about each floor), but it’s got character and feels like someone’s paying attention to the guest experience. Honestly, for a 4-star place in this part of Hanoi, you’re getting solid value without any of the pretentious nonsense that comes with some of the fancier spots downtown.

  What could be improved: The staff doesn’t speak English it was difficult to explain them that I need water and the usual stuff every day, like toothpaste or something. They didn’t understand me, I was asking for clean up my room in 2 days because nobody had any intention of doing it. And the breakfast wasn’t good enough. Each day I came to restaurant there was empty. I mean no food except eggs.

  The apartment was fantastic, with a small kitchen unit. This gave us an opportunity to give our clothes a much needed wash! The staff were lovely and helpful too.

  I came here for the Waterfalls and was here for 2 nights. The property is clean, there were no issues with anything during my say. The breakfast was lighter than most places I stayed at but it was something quick for the morning before I started my day. The staff during the day and evening were Fantastic. SUPER helpful they were able to provide me with an amazing tour company. It was a great Hotel and if I was in the area again I would stay here.
  
  What could be improved: The breakfast was a little on the lighter side but again it was free and was nice to have something in the moring before starting my journey.

  The room is quite spacious with a nice balcony. Makes a great place to have coffee.

  What could be improved: The location is away from the central area of Hanoi. But that's our fault for not checking. If you like staying in the central or happening area of Hanoi, then this might not be the ideal location for you.
  You have to ask for utensils like pots and pans. It would be better if they put some utensils in the room as it is.
