Hanoi Bliss Hotel Overview

Look, I’ve stayed in my fair share of hotels around Hanoi’s Old Quarter, and honestly? The Hanoi Bliss Hotel on Hàng Thiếc Street gets it right in ways that surprised me. First thing you notice walking up is how they’ve managed to keep that classic narrow Vietnamese shophouse vibe while actually making the entrance feel welcoming – not always easy when you’re working with a building that’s probably older than your grandparents.

The location is what really sold me though. You’re literally a two-minute walk from Hoan Kiem Lake, which means you can actually jog around it in the morning before the motorbike chaos starts (trust me on the timing – go early). What I love is that Hàng Thiếc isn’t one of those streets where tour groups camp out, but you’re still close enough to duck into the weekend night market or grab those incredible bánh mì from the lady who sets up her cart right at the corner of Hàng Bạc. The staff actually knows her name, which tells you something about how connected they are to the neighborhood.

The rooms themselves feel… well, thoughtfully put together. I mean, you’re not getting palatial space here – this is the Old Quarter, after all – but they’ve done clever things with mirrors and lighting that make everything feel less cramped than you’d expect. The air conditioning works properly (not a given in this part of town), and the beds are firm in that good way that doesn’t leave you feeling like you slept on a pile of bricks. What really impressed me was the attention to sound – they’ve clearly invested in decent windows because you can actually sleep through the night without feeling like you’re camped out next to a motorbike rally. The bathrooms are clean and modern, though the shower pressure varies depending on what floor you’re on – something about the building’s plumbing that they’re honest about upfront.

You know what really sets this place apart though? The breakfast situation. Instead of some sad continental spread, they’ve got this little setup where you can get proper Vietnamese coffee and pho alongside the usual western stuff. The woman who runs the breakfast service – I think her name is Linh – actually knows how to make coffee the right way, with the little metal filter and everything. She’ll also steer you toward the better street food spots if you ask, and I mean the places locals actually eat, not the tourist traps on Tạ Hiện.

The whole operation feels like it’s run by people who actually care about the experience rather than just processing guests. Check-in was smooth, they held my luggage without any fuss when I arrived early, and when I mentioned I was trying to find a particular silk shop my friend had recommended, the desk clerk walked me outside and pointed out exactly which alley to take. Small stuff, but it matters when you’re trying to navigate a city that can feel overwhelming at first. For a 4-star place with a 9.1 rating, it delivers on both the comfort and the authentic Hanoi experience – which is honestly harder to find than you’d think in this part of town.

  • Inez from Netherlands – 11 May 2025 (10/10)

The staff was so kind and helpful. The staff were one of the best aspects of the property. The rooms were very quiet for such a busy city.

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Lawrence from France – 3 May 2025 (9/10)

Great! Rooms are stylish and confortable.
Super helpful staff helped me book transport to my next location!
The road is noisy, so I took a room without a window, which allowed me to retreat from the busy hanoi bustle.

What could be improved: You can hear other guests from the hallway in the room, so not exactly soundproof.

  • Andrew from Australia – 22 April 2025 (9/10)

  • Maryclaire from United Arab Emirates – 7 April 2025 (9/10)

  • Simon from Israel – 23 March 2025 (9/10)

Clean and well maintained, central location. Staff are very friendly.

What could be improved: The entrance of the hotel has multiple metal workshops which make a lot of noise. But the historical area is always noisy anyway…

  • Ken from United Kingdom – 16 March 2025 (10/10)

This hotel was magnificent. Absolutely perfect! The rooms were spacious and the beds and pillows were soft. What I like the most was the service. We had to come back late in the evening from eating out and the reception waited for us before locking the door. The receptionists during our stat were very lovely and we even made friends with one of them. The location was fantastic just minutes away from all the shops and food stalls. Overall the best place to stay and experience hanoi. Will definitely be back.

    What could be improved: None

  • Rebecca from Germany – 15 March 2025 (8/10)

Very pretty Hotel in a great location. Very close to the old quarter, but in a calm(ish) street.

What could be improved: We were two persons, but only got one small towel. Bath towel for each of us, but only one small for face/hands. Why?
