Hanoi Center Silk Hotel & Travel Overview
You know what caught me off guard about the Hanoi Center Silk Hotel? Walking into that lobby after navigating the absolute chaos of Ta Hien Street – I mean, this tiny alley is basically beer corner central where locals spill out onto plastic stools every evening – and suddenly you’re in this surprisingly polished space that actually feels calm. The contrast hits you immediately. I’d been wandering around the Old Quarter for hours, getting my bearings among all those narrow streets that honestly look identical until you figure out the rhythm, and stumbling into this place felt like finding a secret.
The thing about staying right on Ta Hien is that you’re literally in the thick of authentic Hanoi nightlife, but here’s what the hotel gets right – the rooms are set back enough that you’re not getting blasted with karaoke until 2 AM (though you’ll definitely hear the city humming, which I actually loved). The staff clearly knows their stuff about the neighborhood, and I mean really knows it, not just the tourist version. They pointed me toward this incredible pho spot three alleys over that I never would’ve found otherwise, plus gave me the real scoop on timing my walk to Hoan Kiem Lake to avoid the worst crowds. The rooms themselves are pretty solid for a 4-star – nothing fancy, but the beds are comfortable and everything works, which honestly isn’t always a given in this part of town.
What really sold me on this place was how it sits right in that sweet spot between convenience and character. You’re maybe a 5-minute walk from the lake and all the main sights, but you’re also surrounded by actual Hanoi street life – the morning coffee vendors setting up their tiny stools, the motorbike symphony that starts around 6 AM, the whole rhythm of how this city actually works. The hotel feels like it belongs in the neighborhood rather than just being dropped there for tourists. Sure, it’s not the quietest location if you’re someone who needs total silence to sleep, and the elevator is one of those old-school tiny ones that fits maybe two people if you’re friendly. But honestly? The energy of being right in Hang Buom ward, where you can walk out your door and immediately be part of real Hanoi instead of some sanitized tourist bubble – that’s worth way more than perfect quiet. Plus the whole staff seems genuinely proud of their neighborhood and eager to help you experience it properly, which makes all the difference when you’re trying to navigate a city that can feel overwhelming at first.

Great location for being in the best area to walk around to explore. Day or night this is in the middle of a happening spot. Super cheap as well. I got a massage here as well and it was delightful!

Great location and friendly staff
What could be improved: Toilet was a bit small. The connecting room should at least have a small shelf in it. Or an open wardrobeLani from Australia – 1 June 2025 (9/10)
The staff and the facility is amazing. The location is incredible but obviously at night it can be a little loud. Friday night was loud but I didn’t notice a thing Saturday. We were also right on the party street side! However no issues at all! Rooms were incredibly spacious!
What could be improved: No complaints. For the price you get everything plus more.Shonalie from India – 31 May 2025 (9/10)
Bang in the middle of old quarter beer street.
Family connecting room was super.
What could be improved: Toilet was too tiny.Leanne from Canada – 31 May 2025 (9/10)
Bustling area with so much to do and yet it's so quiet when we are in our room we can sleep peacefully. So surprising that it felt like we went from a club outside to a quiet sanctuary.
What could be improved: Some issues with the shower pressure but not enough of an issue for us to mention it to the front desk so it wasn't a big problem.Lucy from United Kingdom – 31 May 2025 (9/10)
Brilliant property, super clean & modern very very good location for EVERYTHING! Staff super friendly
What could be improved: We loved everything
