Căn hộ dịch vụ The Zei Lê Đức Thọ Overview
Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of serviced apartments around Hanoi, but The Zei on Lê Đức Thọ really surprised me – and I mean that in the best way possible. When you first walk into the lobby, there’s this immediate sense that someone actually thought about how people live, not just how to pack tourists into rooms. The whole building has this modern Vietnamese aesthetic that doesn’t feel forced or fake, you know what I mean?
What got me right away was the location situation. I mean, Lê Đức Thọ isn’t exactly the Old Quarter, but honestly? That’s why it works so well. You’re far enough from the motorbike chaos and constant honking that you can actually sleep at night (the soundproofing is genuinely impressive), but close enough that a quick Grab ride gets you anywhere you want to be in the city. There’s a Big C supermarket literally across the street – which sounds boring but trust me, when you’re staying for more than a few days and want to grab actual groceries instead of eating out every meal, it’s a lifesaver. The whole My Dinh area has really developed over the past few years, and you can feel it when you’re walking around.
The apartments themselves are where this place really shines though. I stayed in a one-bedroom unit and the kitchen was actually functional – not one of those tiny hotel kitchenettes where you can barely boil water. Full-size fridge, decent cooktop, proper counter space. The living area flows nicely into the bedroom without feeling cramped, and there’s tons of natural light from these floor-to-ceiling windows. Air conditioning works like a dream (crucial during Hanoi summers), and the Wi-Fi is fast enough that I could work without wanting to throw my laptop out the window. Little touches matter too – they’ve got USB outlets built into the bedside tables, the shower has actual water pressure, and the bed is firm enough that you won’t wake up feeling like you slept on a marshmallow.
Service-wise, the staff clearly know what they’re doing. Check-in was smooth, they speak solid English, and when I had an issue with the TV remote (totally minor thing), someone was up within ten minutes to sort it out. No drama, no attitude – just professional without being stuffy about it. They’ve got a small gym and a decent-sized pool on the upper floors with pretty nice views of the city, especially at sunset when the light hits the buildings just right.
Honestly, if you’re planning to stay in Hanoi for more than a couple nights and want space to actually live rather than just crash, this place hits that sweet spot. It’s not cheap-cheap, but for what you get – especially compared to cramped hotel rooms in the city center – the value is there. The 9-point rating makes sense once you’ve been there a few days and realized how many little things they got right.
