You know what caught me off guard about the Hanoi Media Hotel & Spa? It’s tucked right into Hang Dau street in the Old Quarter, which honestly sounds like it’d be chaos – and during the day, well, it sort of is. But here’s the thing: once you step inside, there’s this immediate sense of calm that hits you. The lobby has this warm, understated elegance that feels distinctly Vietnamese without trying too hard, if that makes sense.

I mean, staying right in Hoan Kiem puts you about a three-minute walk from the lake itself, and you’re literally surrounded by some of the best street food in the city. The hotel staff actually knows their stuff about the neighborhood – they pointed me toward this little bun cha place on Hang Manh that I never would’ve found otherwise. What really impressed me was how they handled the whole Old Quarter noise situation. You’d expect the rooms to be loud given the location, but they’ve clearly invested in proper soundproofing. I could hear the gentle hum of motorbikes and street life, but it was more like a soft soundtrack than the overwhelming cacophony you get at some places around here.

The spa part isn’t just thrown in for marketing – they actually have skilled therapists who understand traditional Vietnamese massage techniques. After walking those narrow, uneven Old Quarter streets all day (and trust me, your feet will feel it), having a proper massage without leaving the hotel is pretty brilliant. The rooms themselves feel more spacious than you’d expect, especially considering Old Quarter real estate. They’ve got this nice balance of modern amenities with subtle nods to local design – none of that overdone colonial theme stuff that some hotels lean into. Check-in was smooth, and the front desk team speaks excellent English, which honestly makes a difference when you’re trying to navigate Hanoi’s organized chaos for the first time. The breakfast spread is solid too – they do a good pho alongside international options, and the coffee is actually decent, which isn’t always a given at hotel restaurants. With a 9.1 rating, you’re getting reliability in a neighborhood where tourist traps are everywhere, and that’s worth something when you just want to drop your bags and explore without worrying about whether your base is sorted.

  The reception is super super nice and helpful!! We were always happy to see them again. The hotel has a great location, is super close to everything but you can still sleep very well. The beds are comfortable, the bathroom is clean. Perfect for a city trip.
  We also liked the breakfast, French toast, eggs anyways or a good pho + nice buffet.
  
  What could be improved: The breakfast could be a little bit improved (refill, variety). But other than that great for 3-4 days with different options to order!

  The location was excellent. We could see Hoan Kiem Lake from the cute rooftop bar as it was only 100m away. We walked around the lake. We also caught the "Hop on Hop off" bus which was located just 200m walk to the lakeside starting point. The room was delightfully comfortable. The staff were so friendly and were able to.communicate with us in English, giving us guidance and helping facilitate bookings.
  I had a massage/scrub at the onsite spa. Really nice and so convenient.
  
  What could be improved: There was no window in our Superior Room. However, I did see this is common in Ha Noi.
