Hanoi Riverview Boutique Hotel & Apartment Overview
Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of places in Hanoi, and honestly? This little spot on Au Co Street completely caught me off guard. The Hanoi Riverview Boutique Hotel sits tucked away in one of those narrow alleys that you’d never find unless someone told you about it – which is exactly what happened to me. A local friend insisted I try it instead of the usual Old Quarter hotels, and I’m so glad I listened.
The thing about this place is that it actually delivers on the “riverview” promise, which – let’s be real – half the hotels in Vietnam don’t. From the upper floors, you get these genuinely lovely glimpses of the Red River, especially in the morning when the mist is still hanging over the water. The building itself feels more like a well-designed apartment complex than a typical hotel, which makes sense given the name. The rooms are spacious in that way that makes you forget you’re in the middle of one of Asia’s most crowded cities. I mean, you can actually open your suitcase without having to put it on the bed, you know? The bathroom had this rainfall shower that I probably spent too much time enjoying, and the air conditioning – crucial in Hanoi’s summer months – was whisper quiet.
What really won me over, though, was the location. Yes, it’s in Tay Ho district, which some people write off as too far from the action, but honestly, that’s the whole point. You’re away from the motorbike chaos of the Old Quarter, but still only a 15-minute ride from Hoan Kiem Lake. More importantly, you’re right in the heart of expat Hanoi – there’s this fantastic little coffee shop called Tranquil Books just a few minutes’ walk away, and the weekend night market on Au Co has some of the best street food I’ve had in the city. The staff at the hotel seemed to actually know the neighborhood too, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how rare that is. They pointed me toward this hole-in-the-wall pho place that I never would have found otherwise.
The only tiny complaint I have is that the wifi can be a bit spotty on the lower floors – I ended up doing most of my work from the little lobby area, which wasn’t terrible since they keep decent coffee there. Check-in was smooth, though they did ask for a deposit in cash, so come prepared for that. The whole vibe is just… comfortable, I guess? It’s not trying to be fancy or Instagram-perfect, it’s just a well-run place where you can actually relax. And at that price point, with ratings consistently hovering around 9.5, there’s obviously something they’re doing right. If you’re the type of traveler who values a good night’s sleep and genuine local character over being in the absolute center of tourist central, this place is definitely worth the slightly longer taxi ride.

The hotel was new so everything was very clean and well put together. We loved the projector we had in our room and the bed was huge. We also had a lovely view and it all felt very safe. The staff were helpful and friendly, especially the manager Le Chi, they even helped us book a taxi from our previous destination. The breakfast was good too.
What could be improved: The location was a bit tricky to navigate but we got Grabs easily.Daniel from Israel – 3 June 2025 (10/10)

Perfect location/ quiet and peaceful/ good air quality (much better than in downtown Ha Noi) remote but still very close to the city (Grab 80k) and airport!
Very modern and classy/ stylish privately owned hotel with lots of emphasis on detail.
The owner and his great staff team are lovely people and make the guests feel at home. Of the SME privately owned hotels this hotel is one of the best out of the hundreds of hotels I have stayed in. If I ever make it to Ha Noi again- I know where to stay. Thanks for a great time.Aguilar from United States – 7 April 2025 (10/10)
The staff was amazing and super helpful. I had a very challenging time with some business issues for work and the staff were able to assist me with all of the complications. Thank you so much.

The location is not near the river, nor the City. It is too far away from both
