I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to HoLo Kim Ma, I wasn’t sure what to expect from a “serviced homestay.” The building sits right on Kim Ma street, which is actually perfect because you’re close enough to everything but not drowning in the chaos of the Old Quarter. You know how some places in Hanoi can feel overwhelming? This isn’t one of them.

What really struck me about this place is how they’ve managed to nail that sweet spot between hotel comfort and homestay charm. The rooms feel more like you’re staying in someone’s well-appointed apartment than a sterile hotel box – there’s actual character here, with thoughtful touches that make you think someone who travels a lot designed these spaces. The serviced part really shows too; housekeeping is thorough without being intrusive, and honestly, having a kitchenette made such a difference for longer stays. I mean, as much as I love Vietnamese coffee from street vendors, sometimes you just want to make your own morning cup, you know?

The Ba Dinh location is what sealed it for me though. You’re literally a ten-minute walk from the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum if that’s your thing, but more importantly, you’re in a neighborhood where actual Hanoians live and work. There’s this little corner bánh mì spot about two blocks down Kim Ma that I stumbled across – never would’ve found it staying in the tourist areas. The street itself can get a bit busy during rush hour (motorbikes everywhere, obviously), but the rooms are surprisingly well-insulated. I was on the third floor and barely heard the traffic, which honestly surprised me given how close we were to the main road. Check-in was smooth too – the staff actually remembered my name by day two, which doesn’t happen often at larger hotels. They’ve got that local knowledge thing down pat; when I mentioned wanting to find good bún chả that wasn’t touristy, the guy at reception drew me a little map to his favorite spot. That’s the kind of detail that makes a trip, honestly. The 8.5 rating makes total sense when you experience how they handle the little things – fresh towels that actually smell clean, strong WiFi throughout, and they even sorted out a scooter rental for me without the usual runaround. It’s not luxury in the marble-lobby sense, but it’s exactly what you want when you’re trying to experience Hanoi like someone who actually lives there rather than just passing through.

  Vẫn sạch sẽ và ngăn nắp, dễ di chuyển như mọi khi.
  
  What could be improved: Phòng tầng 5 quá ồn, tiếng máy bơm bật suốt và làm rung cả tường, ảnh hưởng nhiều đến khách. Tuy nhiên ở mấy ngày mà homestay không có phương án giải quyết. Gần như phải sống chung với tiếng ồn, cảm thấy cực kỳ mệt mỏi. Lần trước mình ở tầng 3 không có gì để chê.

  What could be improved: Đặt phòng có ban công rộng rãi có view hồ nhưng khi tới thì cho ở phòng khác chật chội, nhắn tin kêu giải quyết thì bảo do booking, hết phòng mình đặt rồi nên k đổi. phòng toàn mùi cống thoát nước bốc lên rất kinh khủng.

  Nhà mới, rất mới nên cảm thấy sạch sẽ. Nhà tắm sạch, nằm rieng trong phòng và đủ tiện nghi nha
  Có thang máy nên cũng tiện lên xuống, xung quanh nhiều nhà hàng Nhật
  Không có chỗ đậu xe máy qua đêm, cần phải gửi ở chỗ khác. Nhưng cũng rất tiện lợi và không quá xa.
