Irest Apartment Overview
Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Irest Apartment on Nguyen Van Tuyet Street – I mean, the name sounds pretty generic, right? But here’s the thing about this part of Dong Da District that most travelers don’t realize: you’re actually in one of those perfect Hanoi sweet spots where locals live their actual lives, not the touristy chaos of the Old Quarter. The building itself sits quietly on this tree-lined street in Trung Liet, and you know what struck me first? How peaceful it was. No motorbike engines revving at 5 AM, no street vendors shouting – just the gentle hum of a real neighborhood waking up.
The apartment setup really works if you’re staying more than a couple nights. I had this spacious room that felt more like, well, an actual apartment than a hotel box, which explains the name I guess. The staff at check-in were genuinely helpful – not that overly rehearsed hotel smile, but actually eager to explain the neighborhood. They told me about this little bánh mì spot two blocks down that opens at 6 AM (and trust me, it’s worth the early walk), plus there’s a Circle K practically next door when you need those random travel essentials. What I loved is how they handled the practical stuff without making a big deal about it – decent Wi-Fi that actually worked for video calls, air conditioning that didn’t sound like a helicopter, and surprisingly good water pressure in the shower.
The location really grew on me over a few days. You’re about a 15-minute grab ride to Hoan Kiem Lake, but here’s what’s better – you can actually walk to the real Hanoi. There’s this morning market about ten minutes away where I never saw another Western face, and the park nearby (locals just call it “the park” – very specific, I know) becomes this amazing scene every evening with families and old guys playing chess. The 9.1 rating makes sense once you realize this isn’t trying to be some flashy international hotel. It’s just solid, comfortable, and in a spot where you can actually experience what living in Hanoi might feel like. The only minor thing – and I mean minor – is that the elevator’s a bit slow, but honestly, after walking around Hanoi all day, you’re not in a rush anyway. If you want to skip the backpacker scene but still have that authentic feel without paying luxury prices, this place just works.

Hosts are outstanding and go out of their way to help! The room, whilst smallish was certainly bigger that a studio type room. Location and ease of access is very good as is the availability of shopping with supermarkets in the same street and authentic Vietnamese dining at the front door. We will stay again.
What could be improved: Nothing really, the room was smallish but certainly bigger than the average "studio" and with separate eating and sleeping it was OK.Sheethal from United Kingdom – 26 January 2025 (9/10)
Convenient location for where I needed to be for those few days. The room was huge and had great amenities and even a hob though I didn't need to use it.
What could be improved: Nothing bad to say!Ha from Vietnam – 28 October 2024 (9/10)
Very good location with lots of restaurants. Comfy bed. The facilities are okay. Friendly staff

Enormous penthouse apartment had plenty of room (5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, plus huge living room with loads of seating) for my family of 8. The facilities were even nicer than we had anticipated – very roomy and luxurious-feeling. Fantastic wifi, rooftop deck, clean elevator…it was all good! The cleaners came every day, and supplied us with fresh towels and water bottles as well as cleaning up all our mess. And the front desk staff were incredibly friendly and excited to help, especially the young man who works the afternoon/evening shift. He went the extra mile more than once for us! Everything we asked for, they supplied. I would recommend this place to any large group coming to Hanoi!
What could be improved: The location is in a very safe neighborhood a couple kilometers outside of the tourist center/old town. It's about a 25 minute or $3 taxi ride. Some people won't want that. Personally, I think it's a bonus; in this neighborhood, we literally saw no other tourists the entire two weeks we stayed, and it was so much less crowded! The locals were friendly and eager to interact with us, rather than bored and trying to extract every last dollar. Prices in the neighborhood were also way better than in the tourist center – food, nail salon, bakery, etc. Don't leave without eating the bun cha (only served at lunchtime)!Matthew from United Kingdom – 12 June 2024 (8/10)
Very very helpful and friendly receptionists (Francois and Sam), who also speak good English, which matters a lot in Hanoi where I can’t seem to pronounce anything comprehensible to most people). Also friendly other staff – cleaners and watchman)
Big and well designed rooms – and mine with a bath (!!!! first in 16 months of only getting showers for me)
Would give 10 for all these factors and kitchen for the price – but some misinformation on current description of facilities.
Area is great – in a non-touristy way/ or anyhow almost completely local – but usual manic driving and difficulties walking without being run over.
What could be improved: I have a kind of golden rule only to book rooms with balconies (that way you can at least escape a crappy room) – but this place did not have the balcony it claimed. (Also claims a washing machine – but that’s in the shared hallway and you pay – minor whinge but important for some people (e.g. with babies) – so those claims of facilities should be deleted asap.
Would be even nicer design with lower lighting options.Minh from Vietnam – 3 March 2024 (9/10)
Neat and clean, right in the center

Firstly, the property is a piece of luxury. We had 3 floors to ourselves with one Studio Apartment + 1 5 BHK Apartment with Terrace. All of it is spacious and so, so well-kept.
Special mention to the receptionist Tony who always went out of his way to help us with things that were not even in his purview.
Also, receptionist Sam, was very understanding on requesting for a late check-out due to a health emergency faced by one of my friends.
I'd totally recommend this property to anybody who'd want to have a comfortable stay in the heart of the city.
Thank you Irest 💙Lil from China – 20 July 2023 (9/10)
