J’ADORE APARTMENT Overview

Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of places around Hanoi over the years, but J’Adore Apartment genuinely surprised me. It’s tucked away in this narrow alley off Lieu Giai Street in Ba Dinh – you know, that diplomatic district where everything feels a bit more polished than the chaos of the Old Quarter. The building itself is one of those tall, skinny Vietnamese constructions with just 11 apartments spread across 6 floors, which honestly makes it feel more like staying at a friend’s place than some massive hotel complex.

What really gets me about this spot is how they’ve managed to nail that sweet spot between local authenticity and actual comfort. The apartment I stayed in had this lived-in quality – proper Vietnamese tiles, but with modern fixtures that actually work (and trust me, that’s not always a given). The air conditioning didn’t sound like a jet engine, the wifi reached every corner, and the bathroom had decent water pressure. You know what though? It’s the little things that stood out. The owner clearly understands what travelers need – there were universal outlets, the kitchen was stocked with basics, and they’d left local coffee and tea that was actually good, not the usual tourist stuff.

The location is honestly perfect if you want to experience Hanoi like someone who lives here. You’re a 10-minute walk from the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum (great for early morning visits before the crowds), but more importantly, you’re surrounded by the kind of local eateries and coffee shops that don’t show up in guidebooks. There’s this incredible bun cha place just around the corner that I stumbled onto – packed with locals every lunch, which is always the best sign. The neighborhood gets quiet at night too, unlike some areas where motorbikes are revving until 2 AM. I mean, you’ll still hear the occasional wedding party or karaoke session, but that’s just Hanoi being Hanoi.

Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no standing around lobbies or dealing with overly formal staff. The host met me at the door, showed me around properly, and gave me their WhatsApp for any questions. That 9-star rating makes sense when you consider how smoothly everything runs. The only minor thing I’d mention is that the elevator is pretty small, so if you’re traveling with massive suitcases, you might need to make two trips. But honestly? That’s typical for this style of building, and the trade-off is worth it for the intimate, residential feel you get.

  The property is a little studio flat with all the facilities you require. Drinking water (a carboy) was available in the flat. The area was very spacious with a small living area and a table and chairs. It was clean with the novelty of a Japanese toilet!
  The staff were always available to help with any questions.
  The location is a bit away from the centre but this is a personal choice. There was a good range of restaurants and coffee shops around the property. The centre of Hanoi was easily accessed by taxi or on foot if you fancy a good walk.
  It was a very quiet spot.
  There is a lift.
  The laundry facilities are situated on the roof where we were able to wash and dry our own clothes.
  Overall this is a lovely place to stay.

  Lovely, welcoming hosts. They were responsive even though I stayed during Tet holidays. The room is gorgeous and I loved having a Japanese-style bidet toilet seat in my room. Free laundry was a great bonus.

  It was the 2nd time that my partner and I stayed there so clearly we were super happy with everything. The family who runs the property is SUPER kind and lovely and we can't thank them enough for everything they have done for us in the past month.
  
  If you are looking for a place that look and feels like home, away from the craziness of the old quarter, yet close enough to quickly reach it by grab (for example) this place is what you have been looking for.
  
  The room is super comfortable, everything is clean, all the facilities are on point and it's also super good for remote workers for example (plenty of space/comfortable too).

  My partner and I had an amazing stay at J’Adore Apartment 🙂 The room is just like as advertised and it’s indeed super comfortable! For us who work remotely it was amazing in so many ways (space for a proper working set up, having the kitchen for daily breakfast and so on)! Also being away from the crowds in the old quarter and staying in a quieter place was great.
  
  The team at J’Adore Apartment is truly helpful. They allowed us to leave our luggages with them while we went to Ninh Binh and Sapa and we were truly thankful for that 🫶.
  
  Everything was so perfect that we will come back for another couple of days before we leave Vietnam.
