San Boutique Hotel & Travel Overview
You know what really caught me off guard about San Boutique? I was expecting another cramped Old Quarter hotel where you can hear your neighbor’s entire phone conversation, but this place actually has some breathing room. It’s tucked right on Hàng Hành street – and honestly, if you’ve wandered around Hoan Kiem much, you’ll recognize this as one of those narrow lanes where the street food vendors set up their tiny plastic stools in the evenings. The hotel sits pretty much in the thick of it all, which means you’re maybe a three-minute walk from the lake and all that weekend chaos around Ngoc Son Temple, but somehow the rooms stay surprisingly quiet.
The thing that really won me over was how the staff actually seemed to know the neighborhood inside out. I mean, yeah, you expect them to point you toward Dong Xuan Market or whatever, but these guys were giving me directions to specific pho stalls and telling me which alleys to cut through to avoid the motorbike traffic during rush hour. The lobby’s got this sort of modern-meets-colonial vibe going on – dark wood mixed with clean lines, nothing too flashy but it feels deliberate, you know? Check-in was smooth, though I did notice they get pretty busy around 2 PM when all the international flights start landing. The rooms themselves are well, they’re definitely designed by someone who’s actually stayed in hotels before. Proper bedside lighting (thank god), outlets where you need them, and the bathroom’s got decent water pressure – honestly, after a few days of walking around Hanoi’s summer heat, that shower hits different.
What really makes this place work is the location context that most booking sites don’t really capture. You’re literally surrounded by the kind of street life that makes Hanoi addictive – there’s this little corner where Hàng Hành meets Hàng Chiếu where locals gather for coffee and bánh mì every morning around 7 AM, and you can just wander down with your coffee from the hotel and blend right in. The weekend night market on the nearby streets gets pretty intense, but in a good way if you’re into that energy. During the week it’s much more chill, just the regular rhythm of motorbikes and vendors calling out their prices. I stayed here in both peak season (around Tet) and during the quieter months, and honestly, the experience changes quite a bit – definitely worth timing your visit based on what kind of Hanoi experience you’re after. The 9.3 rating isn’t just hotels-dot-com fluff either; this place genuinely gets the details right in ways that matter when you’re actually living out of a suitcase for a week.

Beautiful and clean hotel.
Our room was a big size and clean with a comfortable king-size bed. The shower room was nice, modern, and big size.
Perfect location in the heart of Hanoi Old quarter, you can reach everything with a maximum of 10 minutes of walk.
The best part is professional and helpful staff, especially Cara.
She organised all trips and transfers for us in a professional way. Thank you.
I'm definitely coming back soon.

We loved the friendly staff and location of the hotel. Cara has helped us with airport transport and all other enquiries we had during our stay. We actually came back for another night! It was fantastic! We even had fresh flowers in the bathroom! The breakfast was amazing too!

Very lovely and extremely helpful staff. They let me store my luggage at the hotel for 4 days (before I even stayed at their hotel). The rooms are very clean and cozy. The location is also perfect. I very much enjoyed staying there and can highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Hanoi!

The staff, the location, one street off the lake, excellent rice rolls/ bean cuon end of the street. The famous 4p’s pizza just 50 mts away. Beer street about 5-7 minutes walk, night market just a minute away. A lively yet quiet street and great staff.
What could be improved: Nothing as such. Strange that the lady at the breakfast area was like… we don’t have ICE and glasses!!! Like serious how to have Vietnamese coffee then!!Toghrul from Netherlands – 26 May 2025 (10/10)
– nice rooms, great service and very central. Stayed with my wife and highly recommend it 🙂
