You can actually breathe, which – if you’ve spent any time in central Hanoi – you’ll appreciate.

The apartment itself feels like someone’s actual home, not some sterile hotel room. I mean, there’s a proper kitchen with a full-size fridge (honestly, such a game-changer when you want to store those amazing Vietnamese fruits from the market), and the living space is generous enough that you’re not constantly bumping into your travel companions. The building’s pretty quiet too – I was worried about street noise since Phạm Hùng can get busy during rush hours, but the soundproofing is surprisingly good. What really got me was the view from the higher floors; you get this interesting perspective of Hanoi’s expansion westward, with all these new residential towers mixed in with patches of green. It’s not postcard-pretty, but it tells the story of where this city is heading.

The Vinhomes complex itself is pretty impressive – there’s this whole ecosystem of cafes, convenience stores, and even a decent gym if you’re into that. The security is tight (maybe a bit too tight if you’re not used to having to show ID every time you come back), but it makes the place feel safe, especially for solo travelers. Getting around from here is actually easier than I expected. Yeah, you’re not walking to Hoan Kiem Lake, but the bus connections are solid, and grab bikes are everywhere. Plus, being on the western side means you’re closer to some of the newer, less touristy neighborhoods where locals actually hang out. I discovered this incredible pho place just a few blocks away that definitely doesn’t see many foreign faces – the kind of spot you’d never find if you stayed in the old quarter. The whole experience feels more like temporarily living in Hanoi rather than just visiting it, which honestly made my trip way more interesting than I anticipated.
