La Dolce Vita Hotel Overview

La Dolce Vita Hotel sits right in the thick of things on Hang Bo Street – and I mean that in the best way possible. You’re basically a three-minute walk from Hoan Kiem Lake, which honestly makes all the difference when you’re trying to get your bearings in Hanoi’s Old Quarter. The building itself has that classic narrow Vietnamese architecture thing going on, squeezed between a pho joint and what looks like someone’s family business selling motorcycle parts.

What struck me first was how the lobby manages to feel spacious despite being, well, not that big. They’ve got this warm lighting situation that actually works – none of that harsh fluorescent stuff you get in some places. The staff speak pretty solid English, which you’ll appreciate when you’re jet-lagged and trying to figure out where to get decent coffee at 6 AM (there’s a local spot called Café Pho Co about two blocks toward the lake, by the way). The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star in this neighborhood – clean, air-conditioned thank god, and with enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped. The beds are actually comfortable, not just Instagram-pretty, and the bathrooms have proper hot water pressure. You know what’s nice? The windows open, so you can hear the organized chaos of motorbikes and street vendors below – it’s part of the Hanoi experience, really.

Here’s the thing about staying on Hang Bo Street – you’re going to get some street noise, especially in the mornings when the city wakes up around 5:30. But that also means you’re literally in the heart of everything. I could walk to Dong Xuan Market in about eight minutes, hit up the weekend night market, or just wander the maze of streets without needing to figure out taxis constantly. The hotel breakfast is decent enough (they do a good pho alongside the standard continental stuff), though honestly, with all the incredible street food right outside your door, you might find yourself skipping it after the first day. The 7.4 rating feels about right – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it’s solid, reliable, and the location really can’t be beat. I mean, you’re paying for that prime Old Quarter spot, and you get what you’re paying for. The elevator is tiny, so if you’ve got huge suitcases, maybe pack light or be prepared to make friends with whoever else is trying to get to the fourth floor. But for the price point and the neighborhood, La Dolce Vita does what it needs to do well.

Reviews of La Dolce Vita Hotel

  • Elisa from Italy – 21 April 2025 (8/10)

The room was as shown and everything was clean

What could be improved: The room I got was looking at the street and the noise was loud until late in the evening, so if someone is a light sleeper I would recommend to ask for a room far from the street

  • Wendy from Canada – 28 February 2025 (7/10)

    Great location

  • Glenda from Canada – 26 February 2025 (8/10)

  • Richard from Canada – 31 January 2025 (6/10)

    Clean great location

What could be improved: The noise at night which echos upto the rooms, staff talking to loud and doors slamming….

  • Jenny from Netherlands – 9 October 2024 (7/10)

The service of the employees is super.

What could be improved: The shower was really poor. You have to charge it in the room we were in.

  • Elaine from Australia – 26 June 2024 (8/10)

    Good food.

What could be improved: Water at the table was not readily available.

  • Sofia from Norway – 6 January 2024 (8/10)

In the center of Hanoi. Walking distance from all attractions. Clean. Great breakfast.

What could be improved: Windows/Balcony doors are a bit thin so I could hear all the noise from rooms with open windows and those passing the hallway talking.

  • Randall from Canada – 4 April 2023 (8/10)

The hotel was well situated in an area close to a lot of attractions. The beds were comfortable, room was clean and in good condition. The hotel staff were friendly and breakfast offerings were good including a person that would cook eggs for you.

What could be improved: Can not say that there was anything I really did not like about the hotel. We started our tour of Vietnam there and it was a good place to arrive and get oriented.

  • Mario from Colombia – 10 March 2023 (7/10)

Near to everything in downtown Hanoi, with great restaurants and massage places just a block away. The staff was very helpful and easy to talk to in English, which is a plus since they don't use that much English in Vietnam.

What could be improved: The bathrooms and beds were immaculate, but the desks and night tables were not so much. They weren't dirty but had dust on them. Additionally, I really bother me that they kept a printed copy of my credit card information including the security code, right in front of everybody. I did have to ask that document be destroyed since they kept it right in the open.
