But honestly, once you find it tucked away in that narrow alley off Dao Tan street, you’ll forget all about the awkward name because this little gem is actually pretty solid.

I’ve stayed in Ba Dinh a few times now, and this spot hits that sweet spot between being close to everything but far enough from the main drag that you’re not dealing with constant motorbike noise at 6 AM. Dao Tan itself is one of those streets that locals actually use – there’s a decent pho place about two blocks down that opens ridiculously early, and you’re maybe a 10-minute walk from the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum if you’re into that sort of thing. The alley (ngõ 12, if you’re looking on a map) is typical Hanoi – narrow enough that you’ll question whether a car could actually fit, but somehow they always do. What I really appreciated was that they’ve got the entrance clearly marked, which – trust me – is not a given in these residential side streets.

The hotel itself feels like someone took a narrow Hanoi house and actually thought about how to make it work for travelers. The lobby’s small but they’ve got this nice wood thing going on that doesn’t feel cheap, and the staff genuinely seemed to know what they were doing rather than just smiling and nodding (though their English gets a bit patchy if you need something complicated sorted). My room was on the third floor – no elevator, which is pretty standard for these converted buildings – and honestly, it was bigger than I expected. The bed was actually comfortable, the AC worked without sounding like a helicopter, and they’d managed to fit in a proper desk by the window. Small things, but when you’re trying to plan your day or catch up on emails, it matters. The bathroom was compact but clean, with decent water pressure, though the hot water took a minute or two to kick in.

What really sold me on the place was the attention to details that most travelers won’t notice until they’re missing. They’ve got power outlets near the bed (revolutionary concept, apparently), the WiFi actually reaches every corner of the room, and – this is huge – they provide decent hangers in the closet instead of those useless wire things. The neighborhood gets pretty quiet after 9 PM, which means you can actually sleep without earplugs, but you’re still close enough to the action that getting a late dinner or finding a convenience store isn’t a mission.

Look, it’s not going to win any design awards, and the breakfast situation is pretty basic, but for a solid 4-star place in this part of Hanoi, it delivers on the things that actually matter. The location gives you that authentic neighborhood feel without being inconvenient, the rooms are comfortable enough that you’ll want to hang out there, and the price point makes sense. If you’re the type who needs a rooftop pool and marble everything, look elsewhere. But if you want a reliable base in Ba Dinh that feels more like staying with organized friends than checking into a corporate hotel, this place gets it right.

  Messaged the owner well in advance that we might arrive a bit late, but no answer until I went ahead and messaged on WhatsApp too. Then in their reply they informed us that we'd have to stay in another one of their buildings, because the one I booked was being renovated. In their reply they also said that security would be waiting for us, so there won't be any problem. We arrived at 00:15 in the night and spent the next 30 minutes trying to reach someone that would let us in. Finally out of nowhere the security guy did show up and let us in. Everything else was very good though.

  Ми зупинялись в цих апартаментах вже вдруге.
  Розташування зручне, поруч є кафе, магазини, базар. Квартира дуже чиста та доглянута. Прибирання кожен день без додаткової плати. Також надають бутиль води, що доволі таки зручно. Є все необхідне для комфортного перебування. Кухня обладнана та має посуд, але ми майже не готували вдома. Спальня має просторе і комфортне ліжко, також багато денного світла. Інтернет працював нормально, але не швидкісний.
