Libra Hotel Residence by Luxe Paradise Overview

Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to the Libra Hotel Residence – you know how these mid-tier places can be hit or miss in Hanoi. But walking into the lobby, there’s this immediate sense that someone actually thought about the design here. It’s not trying too hard to be fancy, just clean lines and warm lighting that makes you feel like you can finally exhale after navigating Hanoi’s chaotic streets.

The location on Dich Vong Hau is actually pretty smart if you think about it. You’re in Cau Giay, which means you’re close enough to the action but far enough from the Old Quarter madness that you can actually sleep at night. I mean, don’t get me wrong – you’ll still hear the occasional motorbike convoy at 6 AM (it’s Hanoi, after all), but it’s nothing like staying near Hoan Kiem Lake where the street food vendors are basically having a party until 2 AM. What I really appreciated was how easy it is to grab a taxi or Grab from here – drivers actually know where you are, which is more valuable than you’d think until you’ve spent 20 minutes trying to explain your location in broken Vietnamese.

The rooms themselves feel more like serviced apartments than typical hotel boxes, and that makes all the difference when you’re staying more than a couple nights. There’s actual counter space in the kitchenette (revolutionary concept, I know), and the bathroom has one of those rainfall showerheads that actually works – not just for show. The bed situation is solid too, though the pillows are a bit on the firm side if you’re used to Western hotels. Staff-wise, they’ve got this nice balance of being helpful without hovering, and the front desk folks speak enough English that you won’t be playing charades to get fresh towels. Check-in was surprisingly smooth – they had my reservation ready and didn’t try to upsell me on room upgrades or spa packages, which I appreciated after a long flight.

What really won me over, though, was the little neighborhood ecosystem around the hotel. There’s this absolutely fantastic bun cha place about three blocks down that the hotel staff recommended – not touristy at all, just locals hunched over steaming bowls. And if you need groceries or forgot to pack something, there’s a decent convenience store practically next door that stays open late. The area feels lived-in rather than sterile, which is exactly what you want when you’re trying to get a feel for actual Hanoi life rather than just ticking off tourist attractions. Sure, it’s not going to win any design awards, and the elevator is a bit slow during busy times, but honestly? For the price point and that 8.5 rating, it delivers exactly what it promises without any nasty surprises.

All Staff of the hotel, from reception to house keeping including everyone was so cordial n responsive as I was with my little daughter n wife we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, reception staff specially Mia & I forgot other young lady they are fabulous going all way out help u whenever u want…

What could be improved: All good no issue

  • Tessa from Netherlands – 15 February 2025 (9/10)

Very spacious apartment with lots of storage space, it was a really great place to stay at. You could take a great hot shower without the hot water running out like in other places. Very clean as well and the bedroom was elegantly decorated. LOTS of cafés and restaurants just around the corner. And if you dare to walk into the small alley behind the hotel, it's like you have discovered a whole new micro-cosmos with tiny shops and a very local neighborhood.

The staff were also all super helpful and attentive. Tuan very patiently answered all my questions and Mia was always ready with a smile.

Ngoc was even more amazing as she really went all out for us! We wanted to travel right around Tet festival and transport was incredibly difficult to find. Ngoc kept calling companies until she found one willing to take us and all our luggage to our next destination. That saved us a LOT of money, since we were about to give up and book a taxi for a few million! Super happy with her help! Not just for that, but with all our questions during our stay.

What could be improved: Sauna wasn't working when we were there, as it was winter and there were not enough guests to make it worth it for them, so fair enough.

  • Olga from Vietnam – 6 January 2025 (9/10)

    The receptionist work )

What could be improved: Smell in the bathroom

  • Alina from China – 6 January 2025 (8/10)

It’s a nice hotel, more bnb I’d say, the room was clean and the bed was comfy. The location, its in a quiet neighborhood with lots of locals. Wifi was also fast.

What could be improved: The elevator sound. You can hear every time when someone calls for the elevator or arrived at your floor. It was a bit annoying specially in the early morning. + the pool. It’s not really the same as in those pics. The hotel is nice but you can feel that it’s a bit old.

  • Chaplin from Australia – 28 December 2024 (9/10)

The staff were exceptional at communicating even if the language barrier stands between. Super helpful and accommodating.
Everything I asked of them in terms of directions and bookings they were fantastic with. Highly recommend!

  • Josh from United Kingdom – 27 December 2024 (7/10)

The staff were really friendly and nice 🙂

What could be improved: Only think we didn’t like was getting woken up by building work on the floor above every morning at around 530am.

  • Jaquet from United States – 18 December 2024 (9/10)

What could be improved: Internet kept going out

  • Lafrance from Canada – 17 December 2024 (7/10)
