Lotte Hotel Hanoi Overview
So I’ll be honest – when I first walked into the Lotte Hotel Hanoi on Lieu Giai Street, I wasn’t expecting to be blown away. I mean, it’s tucked into Ba Dinh district, which isn’t exactly where most tourists end up, but that’s actually what makes this place kind of special. You’re staying where actual Hanoians live and work, not in some tourist bubble.
The lobby hits you with this understated elegance that feels distinctly Korean (Lotte’s a Korean chain, if you didn’t know) but with Vietnamese touches that don’t feel forced. Check-in was surprisingly smooth – none of that awkward fumbling with passports that happens at some places. What really got me though was stepping into the room and realizing how quiet it is. Lieu Giai isn’t one of those crazy motorbike-heavy streets that’ll keep you up all night, and the soundproofing actually works. The beds are proper firm, which I appreciate, and honestly the bathroom marble situation is a bit extra but in the best way possible.
Here’s what you need to know about the location – you’re about a ten minute walk from the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, which sounds touristy but the route takes you through some lovely tree-lined streets where you’ll see people doing tai chi in the mornings. There’s a solid coffee shop called Highlands Coffee literally next door if you need that caffeine fix before tackling the day, and the Korean BBQ place across the street (obviously catering to Lotte guests) is actually pretty decent. You know what surprised me most? The staff seems to genuinely know the neighborhood. I asked the concierge about finding good bun cha nearby and he didn’t just hand me a tourist map – he drew me a little route to this place on Hang Manh that locals actually go to.
The facilities are what you’d expect from a proper 5-star setup, but the spa is where they really shine. I’m usually skeptical of hotel spas, but they do this Vietnamese coffee scrub thing that sounds gimmicky but left my skin feeling incredible. The fitness center overlooks the city, which beats staring at a wall while on the treadmill. Parking’s handled by valet, which is clutch because navigating Hanoi traffic is not something you want to deal with after a long flight. One small thing – the elevators can get a bit crowded during breakfast hours (around 7:30-8:30 AM), but that’s probably my only real complaint. The breakfast spread leans heavily Korean and international, with some Vietnamese options that are actually quite good, not just there for show. If you’re staying here, you’re getting that reliable luxury hotel experience but with enough local character that you remember you’re in Hanoi, not just some generic city.

Our room was incredible.
The staff were incredible.
What could be improved: On one of the nights, there was 2 DJ’s. It completely ruined the vibe. Nobody was enjoying it.Bao from Finland – 13 May 2025 (8/10)
The hotel has high floors which provide excellent view over Hanoi. Room was spacious and well equipped. Staff were hospitable and well-trained. And last but not least, the brunch buffet at Grill 63 restaurant was really good.
What could be improved: In my room, at some of the carpet edges, there are spikes that hurt when you accidentally step on them. The outdoor pool area is small and not worthy of of a 5-star hotel, the pool towels are also torn and look pretty old, time to replace them.Daniel from United Kingdom – 7 May 2025 (9/10)
Amazing staff, location and room. Probably the best hotel in Hanoi
