Luami Homestay Overview

You know what caught me off guard about Luami Homestay? It’s tucked away in this tiny alley called Ngõ Tạm Thương that most tourists would walk right past – honestly, I had to ask three different people before I found it. But that’s actually the charm of this place. While everyone else is staying in those massive hotels on the main drags, you’re sleeping in what feels like a real Hanoi neighborhood, just a stone’s throw from Hoan Kiem Lake.

The family running this place has been here for years, and you can tell. The owner, Mrs. Linh (I think that was her name), greeted me with this huge smile and immediately started explaining the best routes to avoid the motorbike chaos on Hang Bac Street. She wasn’t just being polite – she genuinely wanted to make sure I didn’t get lost trying to find the night market. The rooms themselves are surprisingly spacious for Old Quarter standards, with these beautiful wooden floors that creak just enough to remind you you’re in a century-old building. The air conditioning actually works (crucial in Hanoi’s summer humidity), and the beds are firm in that good way that doesn’t leave you feeling like you wrestled with a marshmallow all night.

I mean, let’s be real – it’s not going to blow you away with fancy amenities or Instagram-worthy marble bathrooms. The WiFi can be spotty on the upper floors, and you’ll definitely hear the early morning sounds of the neighborhood waking up around 6 AM. But honestly? That’s part of the experience. There’s something magical about sipping your morning coffee (which they brew strong and perfect, by the way) while listening to the street vendors setting up their stalls just outside. The location is actually genius – you’re close enough to walk to Hoàn Kiếm Lake in about five minutes, but far enough down the alley that you escape most of the tourist noise. Plus, there’s this incredible bánh mì stand literally at the end of the street that locals line up for every morning. Mrs. Linh told me about it on my second day, and I went there every single morning after that. The homestay’s 8.3 rating makes total sense to me – it’s not trying to be something it’s not, but what it does offer is authentic, comfortable, and run by people who actually care about their guests having a good time in Hanoi.

Reviews of Luami Homestay

  • Arveen from New Zealand – 30 May 2025 (7/10)

The location and the size of the property are great. The host is very quick to respond.

What could be improved: The beds were very hard. The ground floor was uninhabitable because of the smell from the bathroom. Luckily there is another bathroom upstairs. Suggest guests burn mosquito coils to temper the smell. The owner needs to have it expertly reviewed.

  • Nikita from India – 17 May 2025 (9/10)

I had a truly wonderful stay at this apartment. Its location in the heart of the city made everything incredibly accessible—restaurants, shops, and key attractions were all just a short walk away.

Our host, Luami, was exceptionally warm and welcoming. He went above and beyond by offering great recommendations for sightseeing and local experiences, which really enhanced our trip.

The apartment itself was spotless, cozy, and tastefully decorated—perfect for a comfortable and relaxing stay. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone visiting Vietnam, and I’ll definitely suggest it to my friends!

  • Lưu from Vietnam – 3 May 2025 (9/10)

  • Chris from Netherlands – 30 April 2025 (8/10)

The location is great and the staff is very friendly.

What could be improved: The beds are kind of hard, but this seems to be the standard in Vietnam

  • Max from Belarus – 9 April 2025 (9/10)

What could be improved: В кранах бывает слабый напор воды, возможно это проблема в городе, но на общее впечатление это не влияет.

  • Jiarui from China – 31 March 2025 (9/10)

Perfect location, very comfortable and clean. We loved our stay here!

What could be improved: Nothing it was amazing

  • Mathilde from France – 10 March 2025 (7/10)

What could be improved: Les lits étaient vraiment fins à même le sol, donc pas très confortable.
