So here’s the thing about LUCK APART 05 – it’s tucked away in this narrow alley off Dang Thai Mai Street, and honestly, finding it the first time is a bit of an adventure. You’ll walk past a few local cafes and probably wonder if your GPS is broken, but once you’re there, you get why they chose this spot. Tay Ho has this laid-back expat vibe that’s completely different from the Old Quarter chaos, and this little apartment building sits right in the sweet spot where you can actually hear yourself think.

The apartment itself is pretty solid for what you’re paying – I mean, it’s not going to win any design awards, but everything works and it’s genuinely clean. The kitchen’s got the basics covered, which is great because there’s this fantastic banh mi lady literally two minutes away on the main street who’ll hook you up for breakfast. What really surprised me was how quiet it gets at night, even though you’re still in the city. The neighborhood sort of shuts down after 10 PM, which is either perfect or boring depending on what you’re after. The WiFi actually holds up well enough for video calls (tested it multiple times), and the AC doesn’t sound like a jet engine, which – trust me – is not something you can take for granted in Hanoi.

Location-wise, you’re about a 15-minute walk to West Lake, which is gorgeous for morning runs or just sitting with a coffee and watching the city wake up. The area’s got this interesting mix of Vietnamese families and long-term expats, so you’ll find both local pho joints and Western-style cafes within walking distance. Getting to the Old Quarter takes about 20 minutes by taxi or motorbike, maybe 30 if traffic’s being particularly Hanoi-esque. The staff’s pretty responsive – I had a minor issue with the hot water on day two and they sorted it out by the afternoon. Look, it’s not luxury, and the 7.6 rating feels about right. There are some scuff marks on the walls and the furniture’s clearly seen better days, but for the price point and the neighborhood, it delivers what it promises. If you’re looking for something authentic without the backpacker hostel scene, and you don’t mind being a bit removed from the tourist center, this place makes sense.

  We stayed at Luck Apart 05 for 4 nights. Our check in was a bit patchy as we arrived and the room wasn't quite ready, we did arrive at bang on 2pm so this wasn't an issue as we understand they need time to turn the rooms around. We were able to get in at about 2:30 which was fine for us.
  The room was nice and very quiet which was excellent. Instructions to find the apartment were very good. It's tucked away a bit but it was easy to find following the instructions given.
  Close to a couple of malls with shops and a few local restaurants. Not too far to walk to some really nice western options as well.
  Overall a solid stay and we would stay again.
  
  What could be improved: No laundry machine in the room we got which was advertised however we were told we could use the one on the 1st floor instead.

  The manager is very nice and accommodating guest's request. Good location. Facility generally is clean and new.
  
  What could be improved: The cleaner is not very detail. Washing machine had never been cleaned and I had to do the maintenance before using it. Floor under bed is not cleaned. Bathroom has sight of mold/mildew.

  Comfortable 2 bedroom apartment with full kitchen and 2 bathrooms. Location is decent but not near the old quarter. Managed is always responsive and helpful.
  
  What could be improved: Not the fault of the property but during rainy season alley access becomes flooded and muddy.
